Why do you love your deuce?

Don't forget that great smell! I've given rides to my 87 y/o Dad (Infantry - wounded at Anzio), a friend who was a combat Marine in Korea and a neighbor who drove one in Desert Storm - and the first thing they all mentioned was that great smell in the cab.

So, How reliable is the M1009 vs. The Deuce?

My impression from reading this forum was the same as M543A2 - that the M1009 was not up to task, which is why they were discontinued as stated in wikipedia: "All were phased out sooner than expected due to their inability to survive the hardships that the purpose built vehicles could endure."

So, How reliable is the M1009 vs. The Deuce?

Thanks to all for your helpful and insightful posts (which - as you may agree - is not always the case on SS). I love my Deuce and have caught green fever in a big way. I giggle every time I pull into my neighbourhood and see it sitting in my driveway. I use it as the biggest toy in my box and...

So, How reliable is the M1009 vs. The Deuce?

I feel to Deuce is bulletproof, seems like the M1009 is a sad example of Chevy know how in the 80's. Based on the $ that Uncle Sam put into the Deuce, the M1009 should be going for about $1000. Please prove me wrong...

So, How reliable is the M1009 vs. The Deuce?

So I can buy a purpose built M35A2 that cost us $88k in 1971 for, say $3500, or get a 1986 Chevy Blazer Diesel knock off for the same or more money. Please tell me why I should have both? I want both, just need some justification... Thanks.

    Low Beam Headlights Out

So if my highbeams work in my M35A2 and my low beams don't, must it be the bulb? Thank you in advance for your considerate and helpful replies.

Great, thanks for the posts so far and Happy New Year to all! But I know I've seen postings from a member in Delmar and I drive past a deuce in parked on the street in North Ocean City, MD. Keep em coming and I'll be in touch with each of you separately for contact info to share with our fellow...

Deuces on Delmarva (MD DE VA)?

Just picked up my first M35A2 and I'm looking to see how many SS members are on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia and would be interested in getting a group together for local rallies and/or a mutual support network? Please send me your contact info and I'll be happy to put...
