Good luck on the drive, I picked up mine last week. My drive home was only 20 miles so I did not bother with support items. I would add wire and basic electrical repair stuff to your list. Don't forget to take photos of the trip.

It's 72 degrees here. I could not stand just looking at the GMC any longer. A charged battery and two shots of starting fluid...fired right up, no brakes though. Drove it on the property for a bit. I can see why these are so loved. In slow driving not only is it quiet but the automatic...
It's been killing me to look at the M211 and not drive it but responsibilities have gotten in the way since picking it up. The plan is to have both trucks road worthy but only have one insured for street use. I am amazed at the condition of the GMC, he deserves paint. But just about every...
As handsome as this truck is, its here to work. The snow photo was taken last Friday. We're tired of getting stuck when it's sloppy here. Our yard/driveway has a few steep areas where getting stuck is a problem even for street oriented 4x4s when is wet or icy. To support our business we need to...
I didn't till now. I misinterpreted "Korean War to VietNam War Vehicles" as inclusive and "Post Viet-Nam to Desert Storm Vehicles" as beginning after 1975. Whoops, I blame public eduction. Kinda explains the predominance of Korean era stuff here. Thanks for pointing that out.

I haven't driven my M211 yet but that hasn't prevented another purchase. Picking up a 1971 M35A2 in the afternoon. Test drove it yesterday. It felt pretty good at lower speeds. I did not have a chance to bring it up to highway speeds though. The best part of this new at this purchase is the...
Did you go over their "exclusions". I checked with a different specialty company. They said "pleasure use only". When I pressed for just what is pleasure use. They said that technically, picking up a 2x4 at Home Depot was an "errand" and I would not be covered.
If you can actually use...
I was surprised that license and insurance was a bit of a problem. My normal carrier would only treat it as a regular commercial vehicle=big $$$$. I ended up starting a new policy with another company. The price for the M211 was pretty good but I had to also insure another vehicle with them...
I'll post some photos from inside but I can't promise when I can get some wheels off. Extra caliper brackets came with it, I'll show those separate pieces too.
Hope these photos be of some use.

It has GM bus disks on all wheels. PO said the parts are very common, I would not know the difference between common or scarce. The biggest thing I ever worked on was Norm Grabowski's car hauler.
Looks like I'll need to find pictures of what the front of the frame should be. I might still...
It's a FRANKENTRUCK. The PO said that he found this bed and installed it and the disk brakes too.
I was not able to give it a thorough going over before making an offer but it looks much better than I expected. My wife is even happy with the condition, how often does that happen? Keeping...
The previous owner dropped off my M211 today. Just like most other vehicles, day one= "KOOL". Tomorrow I'll be saying, "Sure looks like a lot of work". By Monday I'll be asking myself why I bought another project.
I never learn (and I hope I never do). Projects are like Jello, there's...
Thanks to all for this site. I have been considering an deuce and a half for a while. I know my way around an old car but never worked on anything larger than a 2wd pick up. I should be taking delivery of an M211 this weekend.
The help that so many share here has helped me decide to tackle...
