    M1009 Inspection Checklist

Thanks a lot guys. I thought it was looked pretty clean myself, especially the engine bay. I've actually seen it in person from a distance (drove past it many times) and I know exactly where it is since I was stationed at that base, and I always wondered to myself if they were going to auction...

    M1009 Inspection Checklist

Without inspecting it myself or having someone who really knows what they're looking for inspect it, I think I'll have to pass. My friend won't know what to look for when it comes to the cannibalization issue, and I don't think I'm willing to chance it. Looks like the late bidding is starting...

    M1009 Inspection Checklist

 I'm wondering myself if she'll be willing to crawl underneath the truck and get dirty a little bit. I think it's a toss up - could go either way. I'll have her call me while she's checking it out so I can guide her a little. I suppose if it's raining or wet there she probably won't be...

    M1009 Inspection Checklist

I'm having a friend inspect a gov't surplus M1009 this week, and I'm making a checklist for her since she's not all that familiar with these vehicles. Here's what I've got so far: BODY *Floors on inside and underneath *Quarter panels (outside and behind) *Rocker panels *Underneath tailgate &...

Some more questions from a rookie

I believe the price difference is due to the fact that Tom (the owner of Alfa Heaven) takes the military versions of his trucks and gives them a fresh CARC paint job, while with the civilian versions he does not repaint them.

Some more questions from a rookie

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Tom is referring to the XM880's listed on the Alfa Heaven website. On there an XM880 is listed as having power steering (and are only civilian versions), while the regular M880's do not. That's the only difference I've noticed when it comes to Alfa Heaven's...

Leaning toward buying M885, a few questions from a rookie...

Nope. Didn't find one I liked for the price I want to pay at the moment. Too picky I guess, but I have no problem holding out for now. I picked up a car for the time being (even though I'm not a fan of cars), so I'll go back on the hunt for trucks once I'm done with school next year.

Did Dodge make a 1-ton crew cab for the military in 1985?

Cool. This one looks pretty nice, but it's on ebay and I have no way of inspecting it before the auction ends in 3 hours. It's no reserve and the bid is at $3050 right now. Doesn't seem too bad considering how it looks. The seller says there is no rust or bondo anywhere or any mechanical...

Did Dodge make a 1-ton crew cab for the military in 1985?

I stumbled across a 1985 Dodge W350 crew cab and I'm wondering if it is possible that this is an ex-military truck? The owner claims it is, and I ran a Carfax on it and it's DMV history doesn't begin until 11/12/2002. It looks like it's been redone (have only seen pictures), has a new paint...

    Clinton, TN anyone?

Cool! Yeah just let me know what kind of shape it's in if he's able to look at it. I'd LOVE to buy it and have it shipped here if it's a good truck, especially since everything I've seen around here so far has been really expensive. I agree, it looks good in the pics, so hopefully it's just...

    M1008 buying tips?

I actually saw that auction and posted it in the ebay section. It looks pretty darn nice, and somebody whol lives down there is taking a look at it for me before the auction ends, so if it's as nice as it looks and is described, I'm going to try and win the auction. We'll see what happens!

    Clinton, TN anyone?

It's actually an ebay auction that ends in 2 days. Not sure how I didn't see earlier since I look on ebay just about everyday for these trucks. I was afraid it might be too short notice. Thanks for offering to help though, I really do appreciate it. I'll just pass on it and keep looking. If...

    Clinton, TN anyone?

I found an M1008 in Clinton, TN (20 miles NW of Knoxville). Anybody close to there that would be willing to check out the truck for me? Thanks! Jason

    M1008 buying tips?

I decided to pass on the truck. I'm still going to look around for an M1008 but I just don't have a good feeling about this one for some reason, and usually I do well when I trust my intuition. Thanks for the buying tips and I'll definately use them when I look at any M1008's or M1009's! Jason

Leaning toward buying M885, a few questions from a rookie...

Ok, I'm an idiot, I could've found that by just searching for it. aua Sorry about that. I did find this though in a google search: (4) The contractor shall use the following codes together with the disposal codes 1 through 9, X, and S (e.g., A1, F7, SS) to indicate the condition of...

Nice! Fort McCoy is only about 3 hours from me. I'll keep my eye on govliquidation for those. By the way, I'm not familiar with condition codes. Is there a good place you can recommend to go read about them?
