To answer your question about the STC, STC's are normally purchased from someone that has already performed the modification, performed flight testing with it installed, inspected by the FAA to make sure it does not create any safety problems, etc..... BUT I guess you could also make one...

If worst comes to worst with only 1 car available, I imagine hooking up to first battery in a normal manner then run the jumping car at a high idle for ~5 minutes; then hook up to second battery and do the same before attempting to start?

Where exactly are you getting this endless supply of turbine oil? It is almost never changed in active duty engines

PLUS it eats everything it touches paint wise unless its made for it.

Actually Low Sulfur fuel can damage emission controlling equipment in post 2007 diesels.

I know in my area on-road and off-road are not actually the same just one is died, our stations carry normal, on-road, undied, Ultra low sulfur, while the Off-road is died, low sulfur. And some trucks after 2007 do not exactly care for simply low sulfur fuel.
