    M1009 Bridge Plate Pics?

Thanks for that Mike as well. Mine actually had a stub where the old Bridge Plate was... it looks like the military just sliced it off and left the mount. My issue was, the kit that was in the car had been sitting in it on the floor molding and mildewing for about 6 years, so there was very...

    M1009 Bridge Plate Pics?

Hey Guys- I've had a brand spanking new Bridge Plate kit sitting on the floor of my M1009 since the day I (re-)acquired it. I finally went to install it and realized that there may be some missing pieces. Does anyone have any closeups of what their bridge plate looks like? The 2 places I am...

    CUCV Gauge Replacement Write-up Suggestions?

Not a problem CCATLETT1984, I've gotten plenty of pictures of which wires to tap. I will try and get a couple of more just to make sure I got them clearly enough for you though ;)

    Hood release, argh

RE: Re: RE: release I found that on mine, after a liberal spraying of lubricant to the hood pin and catch mechanism, it pops all on its own by just pulling the hood release cable again. This is after 5 years of tapping in "just the right spot", which did work for quite some time, haha. Good Luck.

    CUCV Gauge Replacement Write-up Suggestions?

Hey Guys- I am actually about 90% of the way through making some modifications to the gauge panel on my M1009. I am replacing the dummy lights with gauges (well, one of them anyways). I am planning to do a write up on my conversion which includes a fair number of pictures (I've snapped about 80...

HELP HELP!!!! i dont know what happened

I had a similar problem where basically the relay under the dash came on and kept the starter running with the motor turning (this made a metal on metal type of squeeling sound). Then, when I shut off the engine, it kept running because the relay was stuck closed. In my case, I was not able to...

Bypassing the Gen 2 Light (12v conversion)

So, I should be fine with something like a 1 Watt Resistor in parallel with the LED, that way if the LED fails, the resistor still puts enough of a load to keep it excited?

Bypassing the Gen 2 Light (12v conversion)

Hey guys- Well, in my quest to perform some upgrades while fixing some issues on the M1009, I ran into a question/issue. From reading around, it sounds like the "Gen 1" and "Gen 2" lights serve an integral in the charging system of the Stock M1009. In my case, I have converted from 24v to 12v...

    Electric Fan on Deuce

Well, I would first say that your hope that the fan would control the heat instead of the thermostat is the first issue. Any car, even with a huge fan, the temps will be primarily controlled by the thermostat. When the thermostat closes, water is not cycling at the same rate through the...

24v to 12v costs and issues?

I agree, it is a simple task in general. I ran into some problems because I melted my old starter, so most of my issues were with regards to that. But overall, the conversion is something that can easily be done in a weekend and for less than $20 if you're careful and re-use wires. With that...

    What Guage Size for dash?

Well, one other quick update... After an enfuriating round of trying to find some "real" connectors (by real I mean connectors that are held together by more than just a crimp), I lucked out at OSH. They had some good connectors that I was able to solder, crimp and heat shrink to get my...

    What Guage Size for dash?

Thanks guys, I think I've got it all figured out now. At this point, my plan is to continue using the Autometer Z-Series in the stock holes I believe. I have confirmed that I can make the 2 1/16" one's fit in the stock location without TOO much problem. I will of course have to hack the harness...

    24v to 12v Question - Which Wire

Well, nevermind, looks like the orange one was right. The CUCV LIVES! After nearly 8 months... haha. Now its time to get some major maintenance done, the last major maintenance was about 4.5 years.

    24v to 12v Question - Which Wire

Hey guys, finally found the time to finish up my 24 to 12v conversion on my M1009. I have about 90% of the conversion completed, and just have a few pieces left. Specifically, in the Roscomm instructions, step 10. It says to remove the red 14-gauge wire on the smaller stud. They say that...

    What Guage Size for dash?

Ya, I went out with a 2 1/16" Alternator gauge tonight to see how it fits up. The stock Alternator gauge is definitely 2 1/26", but it also looks like 2 1/16 will fit in the dash as well (if I remove the factory lights). My main reason for sticking with these (for now), is that I like the...

    What Guage Size for dash?

Ya, sorry about the spelling of gauge. It was a long night for me. As for the pack, I have seen those hanging around, the good 'ole Autometer inexpensive 3 set. I may still go with the Z-Series because I'm going to be getting a few more than just those, and I'm weird about matching for some...

    What Guage Size for dash?

Hey Guys- I have a question for anyone who has installed aftermarket gauges in their CUCV. I am looking to replace all the dummy lights in my CUCV with "Real" gauges. I don't really want to remove my old ones, but rather just install the new ones in front of them. That way I can have the dummy...

WTB: CUCV Starter Bracket and Bolt

Just as a note, the bolt that goes through the starter bracket and into the engine block is an M10x1.5x9.8 bolt. Chevy will not show that part number as active, but they can get the size with searching (I just did this today).

    CUCV pickup trailer hitch ideas

I looked into this a long time ago. No pictures, but Hidden Hitch made a hitch that went behind the license plate on the civi K5's. If memory serves, this is the exact location that the current Pintle hitch on the M1009 goes. IIRC (and its been a while), I believe I had planned to hide the...
