I Have a ? regarding the specialized wrench needed to take off the head.

Sorry I did not see your thread earlier...I fabricated the same "Saturn wrench" that you needed and posted directions for it. It does not look like you need it at this point but here is the link if needed...

    Warbird pics

Warbirds are a part of military history that I am blessed to have the opportunity to participate in. That being said, I have collected quite a few photos and some video during our many adventures that I thought you fellows might enjoy. Stearman Overhead Approach - Stearman - Overhead Approach...

    2nd and 3rd Tank

I guess we are talking about 2 different types of performance...on road and off road. I assumed since he was going for more endurance (adding additional fuel tanks) that he would be more concerned with on road performance. There I go making assumptions again. ;-)

    2nd and 3rd Tank

Let's re-think that point a bit...with 135 additional gallons of fuel on board that equals out to approximately 950 lbs of additional weight given that diesel fuel weights approximately 7 lbs / gal. To say that this would affect the performance and driving enjoyment of the truck is to say that a...

Known fuels for the multi-fuel deuce

Good point...what was I thinking on that one...:hammer: I'll go back to sipping my whiskey and stop thinking so much while I read and learn.

Known fuels for the multi-fuel deuce

This may have been thought of / discussed already but has anyone used the original oil filter canisters or fuel filter canisters to set up a WMO / WVO filter system? I still have my canisters sitting around where I replaced them with the spin on systems and I thought about fabricating a...

    Civy Wipers

Resurrecting an older thread...I installed this same mod with a slight modification to the mod. This should prevent slinging a the blades and looks a bit more stock as it takes out the plastic disk. Thanks to 73X for starting this thread and coming up with the original idea. The current...

    Shocktober sale on shock replacement

FYI...if you have shock replacement on your "to-do" list, now would be a good time to get it done. Monroe is running a special from September 1 - October 31 on most of their shocks including Rancho...buy any combination of 4 qualifying products for the price of 3...it is a mail in rebate, but...

    Deuce ate a valve seat

So there I was... always wanted to start a story that way. :D Nothing out of the ordinary on a drive home...I was doing about 45 mph and everything seemed normal. I began to notice that I was having to add more throttle to maintain speed and noticed the exhaust getting darker (more black). THe...

    Deuce ate a valve seat

Yes, I do indeed have a home field advantage...still not cheap when it comes to parts though and that stings the wallet.

    Deuce ate a valve seat

We have the pan off and it looks surprisingly good...I may have gotten lucky other than the seat eating. :) I have the truck in one of my bays at the shop and the techs work on it if / when we are slow on customer autos...labor is not an issue for me at this point so I don't mind rebuilding...

    Deuce ate a valve seat

I've considered a new (used) engine, but the damage seems to be limited to this piston and head...I am just replacing the other stuff while I have it apart as it had some blow by and while I have it apart it is a good time to do so. This one was running strong prior to this issue...if I repair...

    Deuce ate a valve seat

Sorry...it should read exhaust valve...its been a long day. :) I'll fix it for future reference

    Deuce ate a valve seat

The valve is still there, but the seat has become one with the head of the piston...the pieces not hammered into the piston can be seen on the paper in the photo. The valve is sitting up in the head about 1/8" further than it should. I'll post more about it when I get to a computer...
