    Series 3 109 FFR

Cheers lifer, I'm not giving up the hobby, I'm going to find something more comfortable to drive or at least easy for my wife to drive, I'm needing my wheelchair more & more & these old leaf sprung Land Rovers are a bit hard going on the spine. I've been offered a free mobility scooter for the...

    Series 3 109 FFR

Thank you, I have to agree with you, it's all the kit & accessories that bring the vehicle to life, the canvas items between the seats are 6 full sets of 1958 pattern webbing that were still in use in the 1980s, these go on the racks for the shows, I was asked to attend a local veterans day on...

    Series 3 109 FFR

The weather has been up & down lately but I've managed a few little jobs, the cab has been repainted & I've acquired & fitted some rear bench seats although they weren't the correct seats I did manage to adapt them by cutting off the old mounting brackets & welding new bits on. I've also added...

    Series 3 109 FFR

Got another little job done, a previous owner had taken out the insulated terminal bracket & I've had a right old game trying to find a replacement but luckily a friend was breaking an FFR 109 so I managed to get the one from his, when it arrived it only had one pair of terminals but another...

    Series 3 109 FFR

Thanks for the comments, it's nice when others appreciate your efforts. I'm not a complete idiot in the fact that a piece is missing, it's just a bit of a fun statement, my kneecap was removed after I damaged it when I fell while rock climbing in Wales with the british army, I also crushed 2...

    Series 3 109 FFR

Here it is all stripped down & loaded with kit, there are still a few little finishing touches jobs to do but it's almost there, it has come a long way since february & I'm very pleased with it, it does get a lot of attention from the public.

    Series 3 109 FFR

The weather hasn't been too good lately so I rearranged the radio rack, it's set out much better now & I can see out of the rear view mirror.

Not for GS trucks but yes on adapted SF & recce vehicles but then again that would depend on terrain. for display purposes I want to have as much kit as possible on the vehicle. Good question, thanks. Cheers Ian

    Series 3 109 FFR

Thank you, I'm quite pleased with the way it's going, it's just the fine detail to do to finish it off, we're having a wet spell but as soon as it brightens up I'll take the top off, I also want to put a section of flexi pipe in the snorkel so the windscreen can be dropped.

    Series 3 109 FFR

As the weather has been good I've had the chance to do more painting, I've blended in the racks, sand tracks & GPMG mount frame plus I gave the 109 another coat of paint.

    Series 3 109 FFR

I've made, fitted & painted the blinds for the front lights, I just cut up an old canvas that was of little use as it was rotten in places.

    Series 3 109 FFR

Thanks for your comments, the engine is the standard 4 pot 2286cc petrol engine coupled to the standard 4 speed manual box with transfer box allowing 2 & 4 wheel drive plus high & low ratios. I can't wait to take the top off & put all the kit on it for the shows, I might take it somewhere quiet...

    Series 3 109 FFR

Finally got the 109 MOT'd & taxed & it is now in daily use, I've just purchased a rifle rack that I've mounted in the back. There are still a few jobs yet to do like fitting blinds over the front lights, fitting the huge spotlight & painting the interior but it is almost ready for the show season.

    Series 3 109 FFR

Got a bit more done today, I fixed the windscreen wipers (loose wire) & fitted the rest of the tools on the bonnet (hood).

Will do, at the moment it looks like this, it will look the mutz nutz with the top off, the racks filled with kit, the cammo net draped around it & the GPMG mounted.

    Series 3 109 FFR

The dummy GPMG was a film prop from the film Sahara & cost £145, I could have bought a deactivated GPMG had I £2500 to spare or a metal replica at £450-£600, I could have bought a wooden replica for £250 but I found a company in London that sells film props & they just happened to have a hard...

    Series 3 109 FFR

Been busy when possible & when weather permits, I've now done the welding that needed doing & added the black paint, I've made a GPMG cradle & purchased the mounting frame for the back, I've done a few other little jobs that can't be seen. Obviously it will look much better with the ragtop &...

    Series 3 109 FFR

I don't know if anyone recalls my lightweight & my intentions to buy a K9 but the situation has changed, I purchased a S3 109 with the intention to sell it on at a huge profit but once I got it home I just couldn't sell it so I decided to make it into a recce vehicle. I've made up carriage...
