The drive shaft wouldn't spin if you have open spider gears. With 1 lockout unlocked, and one drive cap, the spiders would spin inside the diff. Now, the drive shaft may still spin due to friction, but it wouldn't be as bad as if you were running 2 drive caps.

I have all the suspension parts. U bolts, springs, top and bottom plates. I bought a bunch of axles and one of the fronts still had the front springs on them. I knew the 2.5 ton guys used them for bobbing so I wondered if the 5 ton guys do. Thanks for all the replies and pms.

They bring pretty big money in FL. Depending on the supply/demand, you can pick them up for anywhere between $800 and $1500 for 1 front, 1 rear - that's direct take out from a truck. If they've been debraked, welded, cleaned up, new boots, seals, bearings, pinion brake, ram mount... the prices...
