Final update, I now have my CDL!
I took my rescheduled test and I passed. I can now drive my 5-ton legally :)
Thank you all for your support. If anyone reads this in the future and needs help with passing their CDL in Maryland, feel free to contact me.

According to both the MVA & SHA, a non-commercial CDL only permits you to drive specific big vehicles like emergency vehicles, farm tractors, big RV's etc (list can be found on the MVA's website). Even though my registration is historic, the vehicle is still considered a commercial vehicle and...
Update!
Here's an update for all of you that are following this thread.
First off, thank's so much for responding and offering me advice. On Monday morning, I phoned a friend at the SHA and explained the situation, I was given a contact over at the MVA for someone who could help me. I gave...
Yes, I am very well aware of the operation and function that the spring parking brake release valve and the position it must be in to operate. However, my spring brake reservoir never fills and thus the valve will not function which is the reason which prompted my question.

EDIT: Found the problem! The one way valve was installed BACKWARDS. This had the opposite effect obviously and instead of preventing the spring brake reservoir from back feeding into the secondary reservoir, it prevented the spring brake reservoir from filling!
Will solve the problem tomorrow...
Actually, I completely explained the slack adjusters when I discussed the brake chambers. I mentioned everything that was in the DL-151 handbook regardless if it was on my truck or not.
If I can get them to bump up my test, I'd like to go back as soon as possible (with my truck or not). As of now, I need to locate a warm body with a CDL to sit in the passenger seat while I drive to and from an event on Memorial Day weekend - the risk of losing my CDL or facing extremely high...
UPDATE: I passed my Class B CDL test in my M934A1. Yes, you heard me correctly! Thanks all for the support!
Greetings all,
On Friday morning after months of preparation, I drove my M934A1 truck down with a friend to the Maryland MVA to take my Class B CDL test so that I could be legally...
Update: I had an hour and a half call with an official at the SHA that is in the Motor Carrier department, we had a wonderful conversation and he was able to clarify a few things for me.
First off, @jaxof. You are absolutely correct! You do NOT have to display a MD DOT Number on your vehicle as...
Now I'm confused (again)
My title and registration too lists "0/NA" under the GCW and GVW's, this is the same for my ambulance as well. When I asked the DMV, they told me that they simply do not list the GCW and GVW on the title and registration.
Hmm, this is interesting though. jaxsof might...
Greetings all,
Just wanted to share some research for those of you who reside in Maryland and either operate an MV or are thinking about operating one. The laws regarding MV's (or a privately owned commercial vehicle) are very difficult to decipher and extremely hard to determine what applies...
Greetings All,
I sent away oil samples for analysis which included my rear and center differentials, engine oil and transmission fluid (I skipped transfer case and front differential pending the analysis of the rear). Got partial results back, but the analysis company needs more information...
Greetings all,
Just wanted to share a picture of the beast and a quick story about how a forum member saved my entire weekend. Attached is a pic of the 1986 M934A1 Expansible Van shortly after its long trip from Vermont to Maryland! The GL pictures don't do it justice. I'll share more pics when...
Just got my quote. This is for a commercial vehicle policy with special consideration for with low mileage per year and personal/non-commercial use.
$440 / 6 months. $250k bodily injury / $500k per accident / $100 property
They will not cover comprehensive or collision as it is a military...
I'm waiting for my quote to come back from State Farm for the M934A1. I have three vehicle policies with them which include a historic ambulance (two axle, GVW 18,200) and they insured it under a commercial policy for non-commercial/personal use. I pay about $422 a year for the ambulance. Will...
(I hope this is the correct forum for my questions)
Greetings everyone!
So, I won the auction for a 1986 M934A1 back on 2/16 and just received my EUC approval a couple days ago. As it turns out, I was probably bidding against some of you guys (sorry!). I'm currently preparing for my trip up to...
