That makes me feel all smart now. :dog head: The volvo engineers seem to know what they were doing. My '88 station wagon runs like a top even after I learned to drive a manual on it.
Thats good to know. I was planning on converting to dual circuit brakes any way. Would running two master cylinders with each connected to one of the steering tires and the opposite side rear tires (not the actual tires, but that tires brake) work best? I feel it would be easier to set one...
How well do they help braking? My biggest issue with a deuce (when I get one) is really going to be braking. I can deal with no power steering (Im far from dainty). But when I want to stop, I want to STOP. I imagine retrofitting some bigger heavier brakes may help me out quite a bit.
I know rationally what to do, and thankfully only had a front tire blow out at about 10 MPH (darned 2x4s with nails!). The way I look at it, run flats don't hurt and if nothing else they make me feel better which often does lots of good. Call them my security blanket (and me Linus). :mrgreen...
Well thats nice, but I am not you nor am I as confident a driver in similar situations. With no power steering and me pooping my pants I would prefer to have some redundancy that would help me stay calm(ish) in that situation. It is like having a condom on you in college, Id rather have it and...
Is there a better run flat option using A3 wheels? I would like a deuce but after hearing multiple stories from some local Vets about how they (the truck) would lose a front tire and crash at highway speeds, Id prefer to have a safer option (especially since I do at least two 500 mile drives on...
Just for the sake of sating my own curiosity, has any one installed run flat tires on the front pair of wheels in a deuce? I know for sure you will lose control should you lose a front tire, but if you have some thing like this...
Im also 19 and looking at one seriously as well and the few things I noted are
1. You have to be REALLY good with a manual. Can you start from a dead stop up a hill, with no issues?
2. How careful are you as a driver?
3. Can you park it locally? In my town I cannot park one where it is visible...
Hmm. That actually doesn't sound too bad (but I haven't had to fix one so it is probably pretty confusing in reality). Are the wires differentiated or does one just have to know?
In your opinion is the air assist worth it? I will certainly do it eventually, but the parts budget was more for...
Thats too bad. But at least there are more out there!
Reading about them it seems like the deuce is like the AK of trucks (you either love em or hate em, they are simple, reliable, big, loud and fun to play with). That is great news about leg room (I always need more!).
I can kinda sorta park it as long as it isn't in view (as long as it isn't registered as a commercial vehicle, i don't remember the exact rules, but it is something along the lines of put it in a garage or it is a fine). But I am moving up to maine next year full time where i can park whatever I...
Thanks. That is what I was thinking. Ill bet due to my age Ill wind up spending $1800 a year on insurance. :( But that is way less then one uninsured accident!
Okay, zoo after having trouble finding an answer to this question, what is the best first MV? I WANT an M35A2 with a nice hard top, but I am a fat arse (6' 5" and 265) and all legs, so I am worried about room. I probably can switch out the seats and move them back to give myself more room and a...
