This happened across the street from where my son goes to school. He is ten. Kids were all speculating what happened. They thought he was probably drunk. My son, took one look and said, nope, his brakes went out. Ata boy!
I saw the scene moments later and really can't piece together what...
Working on the 929 today and noticed a belt was not on. It is old, frail, and brittle. It was just laying next to pulleys. I put it back on where I think it should go. Seems like it should be for the water pump. We've used this truck a lot and never had a problem with it heating up. You...
Got everything back together and the truck moves again. However, look at the picture below. It appears that the driveshaft is way to short. Perhaps that is the problem and why the tail housing cracked. Seems like it should go on a lot farther than that. This is a new shaft I had built, but...
I didn't reassemble yet. I will inspect before I do. But shouldn't the truck be able to move if the transfer case is in 4wd? and if there isn't any fluid it in, it won't move? Am I correct in my thinking?
I have the part from a member here. Thanks to them very much. Next problem. It would seem to me that with the rear driveshaft removed, and the transfer case in 4wdH, I should be able to move the truck correct? But I can't. It doesn't seem that the tail housing, in the photos above, seal...
Yesterday I was traveling north on I 83 into PA from MD. About the Loganiville Exit a M923, which I believe to be an A2 (was driving and didn't notice), merged onto the highway. I was doing about 73-75. We caught up to him pretty quick. Very nice truck. Looked stock except for the exhaust...
The driveshaft was bent really bad. So I had one built from an old one I had before recovery. Installed at GL lot and loaded on trailer. I'm hoping it was the result of being forklifted and not something to do with the driveshaft. The U joints were stiff when I retrieved the "new" driveshaft...
Hmm, its whatever the driveshaft goes into. My guys took it apart, so I didn't have a chance to study it. I am going to put an ad in the classifieds. I had heard there were guys with CUCV parts close by, but haven't found them. Thanks for the response.
M1031 down. Need More Help...
My 1031 is down. The cone on the back of the transmission, where the front of the driveshaft goes in, broke. See pic. Anyone know where I can find one? Been looking for months. I use this truck for work, well my guys do, and we need it up an running.
Many...
Are you guys planning on taking the test in a MV? I've heard horror stories of people who showed up in something like that and were turned away because the testers didn't think the vehicles were road worthy.
For me, I need to figure out how to take the Class A CDL. I checked into the...
Lets say you are using a simple 6 amp 12v battery charger(s). Do you have to disconnect all the batteries before charging? Or can you simply leave everything connected and hook the chargers up to individual batteries?
I'll check. I had no idea they did this. We just went on the tour this summer with the kids and we all loved it. I'll check to see what's planned and if I can come down, I will. I hate to paint though. But will do whatever....
I didn't see a TM that included operation of a CUCV PTO like that which might be on the M1031 Contact Maintenance trucks. I've seen the TM referenced, but haven't found it yet. If it doesn't exist, can someone chime in with the correct operation of the PTO?
Welcome from down here in York. Got a little bit of everything. Your "NEPA" caught me off guard. NEPA is official for National Environmental Policy Act. Thought for a second the feds were coming down on us.....
Welcome anyway..

Thanks all. Load out went well. When I bought the truck, it appeared that the top was not in good shape as it was not on correctly. When I got there, the top was fixed mostly and in great shape. Overall, the entire truck is in much better condition than I was planning. I was going to put...
