Well if someone has a sacrificial lamb they could easily build a test mule. Just add a better/bigger turbo along with a waste gate and manual boost controller. I'd be curious if we could even make it to 30 psi of boost without something giving.
If I remember correctly, those who put boost...
I have always wondered how much boost the ldt could handle. It's already in the 22:1 Ish range.
More boost = more compression.
With supposedly weak rods and failure prone head gaskets it would be interesting to see.
Which would lead to the next question. Are the head gaskets a poor...
Yes pinion brakes have been done. They don't work past crawl speed.
Reason is 2 fold. The disk is way too small for a truck this size. 2 the pinion brake turns much faster than the hubs do. Which only serves to heat the brake even faster.
Remember with brakes the idea is to dissipate...
There is no throttle plate like in a gas engine. A diesel engine will slow down a tad by downshifting but generally the momentum of the truck will push right through the compression stroke. Since there is no throttle plate there isn't anything to put a hard vacuum on the engine to slow it...
Yes super single wheels are tubeless ONLY. There is an o ring between the 2 wheel halves to seal the wheel. They also give the correct offset for large super singles.
There isn't a good reason to use the standard lock ring wheels with super singles in my opinion. They are hard to work with...
I re-read the parts of this thread where you fired it off for the first time after the rebuild.
Honestly, I'm starting to think you were too gentle with it. Diesels need a good bit of load on them to seat the rings correctly with as little idling as possible.
That may have happened 20 years ago. Rtv like everything else has come a long way.
If you want the pinnacle of rtv sealants go to your local Honda dealership and get a tube of hondabond. You can just about use this stuff for a head gasket.
I have used rtv to seal pipe flanges and head...
I would offer to rebuild your airpack but I have been extremely busy as of the last few months. I have a local injection pump shop that rebuilds these ip's. Pm me for details if your interested.
