A Marine Vet from another unit on Marble Mountain Vietnam, was visiting the Museum and installed the signed panel. He remembered the great Huey gunship support on every CH-46 mission. How cool is that, not only a fellw rotor-head mechanic, but a Marine from the same era.

Single Engine All Weather Freedom Fighter to the rescue! To bad there was not a military unit in the area needing sling load training. I was a Huey Crewchief and the Huey does have a low external capacity compared to Hawk or Chinook. Might of even been able to do an internal load with a CH-47.

I just have the practice TOW missile. No tube or other items for mounting it. I did have a second though of just displaying it on a stand until I can find or fabricate parts to make a faux launching tube.

Does anyone know the manual for working on a TOW missile? I was wondering if there is a way to manually retract the stabilizer fins. This appears to be for maybe cranking?

I have a damaged practice TOW that I can fix up. So putting a mock dual set up would be great. Could do one empty and one full.

I was in the 101st in DS and saw some old stuff. I had not seen an M113 or M16a1s in years. I think everyone that went to the sand box ended up with new stuff. We turned all our CUCVs in for Humvee's and M7 bayonets in for M9 Bayonets.

I think this would look cool as a mock up on top of my M1009

Great looking project. In the late 70's early 80's TOW systems on Mules was still going on in the 101st Abn Div; but disapeared real fast. I was told that the old Davy Crocket tactical nuke was also fitted to the Mule at one time. In Aviation one Mule was alwas designated for our crash fire...

FYI...I had a soldier that retired 5 years ago tell me they were still using M1008s in Supply to move parts all around in secure areas.

I think they should show this in their photo stock.

I was a 67N30 too. Will PM you on the parts. I was also ALSE and Aviation Safety certified. Crewed an H model for 10 years. Did a tour in S Korea, W Germany, Gulf War and 2 in MFO on peacekeeper duty. Then retired the same month the 101st converted the last Huey unit, 6-101st, over to Hawks.
