    M1009 Intermittent wiper and horn failure

    I replaced the wiper motor, lubed the linkage, horn has been working, haven’t checked the wipers for any extended time yet. More than likely I’ll end up replacing the switch in the steering column..........

    You are aware that the Alternators are not the same and that one of them has an isolated ground for he 12/24 volt system aren’t you?

    I had a similar situation with PO’s rewiring of my M1009, I am quite familiar with vehicle wiring, with the CUCV’s wiring, IMHO, it is IMPERATIVE that you have proper diagrams to do it right. This site has all of the info that you will need to do your CUCV right. Good luck with it.

    I’ve checked the fuse and it’s connection, it’s good &clean. I should have said that the wipers would work until I turned them off, then when I would try to turn them back on they would not work until setting at least overnight. Thanks.

    ‘84 M1009 The Wipers will be working fine then shut off, when attempt to turn back on they will not work, nor will the horn work, next day, horn works, turn on wipers they work fine, then problem repeats itself. I’ve tried connecting a separate ground from wiper motor with no joy. Suggestions...
