400 sb Chevy in XM 708

Yes, I'm on your list. The 400 SB is a bolt-in totally reversible retrofit (as is the Chevy big block).

400 sb Chevy in XM 708

Probably no harder on the axle shafts than the big block Chevy that I put in my 37 about 45 years ago. The bbc has given the 37 a considerable improvement in driveability in the mud, and axles have not been a problem so far, knock wood. I would hope that the 400 would have a similar effect...

    Super Swamper IROKs

I tend to like the tread design on the IROKs for sentimental reasons. They remind me of the old directional Firestone Super All-Tractions I used to run. I'm having trouble deciding between the I-810 (13.5x39.5-16.5) and the I-815 (14x42-16.5). Any thoughts about choice regarding clearance...

400 sb Chevy in XM 708

There were 192 built. 11 that still exist (maybe 12). I've owned this one for 42 years. Both are reasons why I specified a completely reversible installation.

400 sb Chevy in XM 708

My brother is fixing to junk an old Chevy pickup that has a freshly overhauled 400 small block in it. I'm thinking about pulling the 230 out of my 708 and doing a fully reversible installation of the 400. It would be an even easier install than the big block Chevy that I put in my 37. No...

    Dana 60 under a m37?

    That's right.

    Dana 60 under a m37?

They are 5.83's, if I remember correctly. Not 5.89. Did it back in the early 1970's before the days of video and didn't take any 8mm film either. No way in h*ll would I ever do it again. That big block Chevy was really screaming, and I was scared spitless that the windshield was going to...

    Dana 60 under a m37?

True, if you are building highway trucks. I've had a big block Chevy powering my stock 5.83's since the late 1960's, and have never regretted it, nor ever seen the need for higher gearing. My 37 has been up over 110 mph, but I find it quite uncomfortable at over 70, for reasons that have...

    M37/M56 radiator.....What are my alternatives?

Yes, anyone skilled in radiator repair can do it easily.

    M37/M56 radiator.....What are my alternatives?

Move the inlet to the other side.

    M37 hardtop

I built mine out of steel sheet stock. Doubles as a roll cage. I do a lot of fiberglass work, but prefer steel for this.

    M37 hardtop

Have you considered building a hardtop, using your soft top frame as a jig?

    cool rc m37

Looks and acts a lot like Kydex. I don't know if it is, but Kydex would be the perfect material for this type of project.

    Dana 60 under a m37?

What's better about the gear ratio? The 5.83's will already go faster than I am comfortable with.

    Dana 60 under a m37?

What's the advantage of the Dana axles over stock?

    Repower Radiator Options

I put a big block Chevy in my 37 about 45 years ago. Live in the South and have used the stock radiator since then without heating problems.

built up 251 finally in m37!!!

I used to have one in a 1954 Chrysler Windsor. They were good engines.

    M37 Disaster

Me too, Angus. My foster bother gave mine to me for my 20th birthday in 1962. It isn't stock, but he also gave me an XM708 for my 30th, and it is.
