Looks good Rick. I'm about in the same place as you are on my project. Just finished painting the frame and the rear diff. Installed all brake lines ft and rear. The ft diff is also all done. The cab should be all in primer next week. Nice just fixing dents instead of rust on the cab, I like...
Simple polyester resin. You can buy it at any automotive store. mix it and apply with a brush. It will soak into the dried out glass and once hard can be sanded then you can repaint the top. You can also buy an additive to put in the paint to duplicate the texture.
I dropped my 1028 off at my buddys shop to have a new IP installed. It started leaking pretty bad around the throttle shaft. I know we could have just done the seals but I'm sure it has been a long time since the pump was done.
He took it apart then I took the intake , valve covers, air...
Very true. My brother found that out the hard way with his 1008. He was way over loaded and couldn't stop. Crashed into the back of a dump truck. I had to go tow the whole mess back to my shop. His truck is fixed and back on the road now but he won't do that again.
You bought a fine truck from a fine seller. I bought my 1028 from Rick. It was beatup but run perfect. I rebuilt the truck and now use all the time. Rick helped out with parts I needed after the sale. Great guy to deal with. Brian G.
Ok. I said I would report back to let you guys know if my truck lost prime after sitting in my barn since thanksgiving. No it did not !!!!! I went in the barn today I let it glow one cycle turned the key and it fired right up. I let it run for about 20. min. and then shut it down. So my check...
After I put the check valve in the truck started rite up since. Rite now the truck is in my barn for the winter. been there since Nov. Another month or so I'll fire it up after the long sleep. Then we will see for sure. And yes the truck is all stock as it came from GM..
I'm in the all orig. camp. I don't go for all the mods guys do to these poor trucks. I wouldn't even consider a truck that has a lift on it or wiring all butched up. When I bought my 1028 it needed a lot of work, nothing I could not handle. But nothing was ever changed from the way GM built it...
I remember looking at that one when I was down there. Good truck for a new project. Nice job on the 1008. I would have bought that one if I didn't have Dude. He's parked in the barn for the winter now. I like following your progress every morning. Look forward to watching this one.
BG.
I put mine in the feed line under the truck. On the Rt side of the frame there is a steel cover at the back of the cab. There are rubber lines under that cover. I just put it in the rubber line and put the cover back on. Works perfect. The truck can sit for weeks and never lose prime. Best 17.00...
We just bought that tank from Napa yesterday for my brothers 1008. . About 16.00. Have not installed it yet. Maybe today. If there is any major problems I'll report back.
What is the air valve for? I'll take a better look at that bolt today. Did all the 9 series trucks have this filter. I don't remember it on my cargo truck. I sold that one so I can't look.
