    Multifuel Rythmic Shudder

Thanks for all the replies. They helped a lot. I haven't figured it out yet and decided I probably won't. It's got new oil in it so I'm using that as an excuse not to pull the pan. I'm afraid I might find something in there I don't want to see anyway... For now I'm just going to run it...

What are you running for a compressor belt?

Brand and model number if you know. I've got the Napa 25-9510. Thanks

    Multifuel Rythmic Shudder

One more thing, I'm running the single cylinder compressor, both the old one and the new one.

    Multifuel Rythmic Shudder

Ok, you might think I'm nuts but I think I've narrowed it down. Tonight I pulled the radiator again (for easy access). Then started it, same shudder/pulse. Took the fan off, same shudder/pulse. Then took the alt. belts off, still shuddering. Took the compressor belt off it smoothed right...

    Multifuel Rythmic Shudder

Ok, if it is the flywheel I can static balance it on a surface grinder wheel balancer (our surface grinders run 20" wheels) But, is that how they balance these engines, one component at a time? Or do they balance as an assembled rotating assembly? Still not understanding why it's a cyclical...

    Multifuel Rythmic Shudder

Got a multifuel LDT 465 1D in a M35A2C that has had a rythmic shudder ever since I bought the truck about 20k miles ago. Almost like a pulse every second or half second. Any rpm but really noticable between 1500-2200. Feel it parked or driving so it's not driveline. Excellent oil pressure...

    Extremely interesting new fuel source

Not to nitpick but the guy said you can only get 18 gallons of oil from an acre of corn. Don't confuse oil from ethanol. On an average yeild acre they get about 400 gallons of ethanol. Nobody has ever grown corn for it's oil content. While interesting I can't stand it when people are...

head gasket torque specs and valve lash info needed

Are you sure about the intake being .015? The manual I have says .010 I've got the valves set and I'm going to button everything up tomorrow so hopefully you meant .010 Can someone either confirm or correct us on the intake spec? I don't want anything set wrong. We found some valves that...

    valve rotator info needed

I'm on my way into town to talk to some engine machinists but I'm wondering if any of you guys have pulled the valves and noticed the spring inside of the valve rotators broke. Several of the rotators came right apart while others have stayed crimped together. They all rotate freely but I...

head gasket torque specs and valve lash info needed

I got the correct manuals I need but I want to confirm the TD block torque spec. The manual says 157 ft lbs. for a TD block. Is that right? The only reason I question it is last time I did this job I called Hercules and talked to a machinist and for some reason I thought he gave me a higher...

head gasket torque specs and valve lash info needed

Early this week I'm going to tear into my multifuel and repair a leaking head gasket. I did the complete job in 04' and used the new style gaskets. I was surprised I blew a new gasket that soon but I did so apart she comes. It's the rear of the rear head like usual. My questions are: What...

    3053 trans, OD or not?

If you are shifting from direct to OD in the aux. while on the fly how are you doing that? It would be sweet to be able to split gears progressively. For example 1st direct, 1st over, 2nd direct, 2nd over, 3rd direct, 3rd over, and so on. Is that how you've got it figured or are you going to...

    3053 trans, OD or not?

Randall, I'd also like to hear some numbers and performance data after a road test. Pictures would be great too. I'm wondering how you mounted the second stick and all the linkage.

Michelin 12.5 xls and air pressure

I should add that there was a version of the older GMC's that used the same wheel. M135's maybe?

Michelin 12.5 xls and air pressure

I used wheels off of a M34. Same width as a standard deuce wheel but a wider offset since the center is welded deeper in the wheel. I had 11.00's on before the Michelins so I already had the hubs turned around and liked the singles. The wheels are getting kind of hard to find though. Marc

Michelin 12.5 xls and air pressure

Bill, I've got 12.5" Michelins on my deuce too. On mine though I played around and ended up with 65 lbs in the fronts and 55 in the rears. I know the tires say otherwise but the tire guy I get my advice from said they'd be fine. So far so good and it handles fine. If you want to get them...
