    The age old transmission question

I'd really love to keep the 302 and put a standard behind it. Some of the big trucks from the early 60s had a new process gearbox with a deep gear set. The GM heritage center even lists an 8 speed Fuller for '62 I think, but I'm sure those are very rare. The hydra matic in mine will get 1st and...

    The age old transmission question

I saw that there is a master rebuild kit for the hydra matic, but it seems like there are an awful lot of specialty tools to get it rebuilt and tuned correctly. Does this seem accurate or is it doable without all of the tools listed in the TM?

    The age old transmission question

As with many of these trucks my transmission is the problem. I've looked all around the internet and it seems like there's not a straight answer in swapping in a manual transmission. Can it be done or would this require disassembly of the engine so it could to be modified to accept a flywheel...

    M135 - Couple of questions

Is this the port you are talking about? I believe it is for a heater, but my truck does not have a military heater installed right now. Yes, that's the port. The blower that goes behind that looks huge in the pictures I saw. Did you get your transmission figured out yet? Not yet. Things...

    M135 - Couple of questions

I have a couple of quick questions for you all. First, what jack and jack stands are you all using on your m135/211? Second, what is the port on the driver's side of the hood for? I've seen pictures on the internet of some sort of large plenum or blower behind it in the engine bay, but I'm not...

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, I'll probably go back green with it. The orange wouldn't be too bad for a while but all of the forestry service insignia were painted over with some weird fuchsia color. It looks a little strange with all of the purple-ish patches.

Thanks SturmTyger. That clears things up. Looks like I'll be doing some light rewiring. My truck looks a lot like USMC 00-08's except the bed is also orange. Maybe they came from the same forestry service auction. I'll post some pictures as soon as it stops raining.

    New member w/questions

Hello from Oklahoma I just bought a 1952 GMC M135 not too long ago. The technical manual posted here has been invaluable so far. The 302 runs good, but the trans will only get 1st and reverse. I'll be trying to address that soon, but right now I'm in the process of replacing the battery...
