    Finally My Truck Is registered!!

Also I forgot to mention that when you let off the throttle, the rpm will drop almost to the point of cutting out then come back up to idle. Havent bypassed the fdc yet but im starting to think an IP rebuild is in my future.

    Finally My Truck Is registered!!

I want to do the head gaskets too. mine has still has the pink ones with weepers. Also, #4 piston has a knock and there is a distinct single puff of compression entering the crank case. With the oil fill cap removed, its very noticeable. Im not getting any comression in the cooling system...

    Finally My Truck Is registered!!

I turned up the idle to 900rpm. at 700 rpm the truck felt like it was going to rattle apart. 900 is very smooth and the engine sounds much better idling at 900.

    Finally My Truck Is registered!!

It idles at 950rpm but will start raising and lowering rpm by around 150 to 200rpm. It will be at 950 then creep to 1050 to 1100 then back down to 950 then slowly drop to 800 then come back up. The throttle return spring is good to go. What do you think would do that? Im thinking either the ip...

    Finally My Truck Is registered!!

Hey All, Been a long time since I've posted. I'm VERY Happy to say that my 1971 G.P.D. Jeep Corp M35A2 Non Turbo Is Now Titled and Registered as a California Historical Vehicle. She now sits at my house with shiny new license plates and Im ready to start the R&R. This is my last project before i...

    Tec tip of the day

Thanks very much to the OP for this thread!! I've been wandering why my AC pulley is adjustable. So its a good idea to take it apart and put some anti seize on it? I'm going to add this to my to do list. Thanks again.

    Diesel exhaust color meaning?

HaHa I agree. I keep adding things to the "Bring to A1 condition" list and then I see the price of each project and wonder how I will ever get this truck going.aua I then start to wonder if I should just sell it to someone that could actually afford to work on it... Then I drive it around a bit...

    Diesel exhaust color meaning?

Yep I just changed the fuel filters and yes the old ones were military filters and clogged badly. Especially the primary. The truck wouldn't idle at all before I changed them. After changing them and the fuel, and adding seafoam, the truck would idle but only at about 400RPM. I then turned up...

    Diesel exhaust color meaning?

I am going to test the injectors here pretty soon just to see what they spray like. I'm trying to rig up an adapter for my compression/leakdown tester. My pop tester is ready to go though. I just watched a Youtube video of a non turbo M35(Also a 1971 with a White Engine) driving and now I'm...

    Diesel exhaust color meaning?

I guess the bluish grey smoke is more grey than blue but I'm also a little nervous about it. I haven't noticed any oil loss though. What color smoke should the non turbo multifuel be? I know my truck's smoke reminds me of a non turbo 7.3L Ford diesel. I wouldn't hesitate to do an in frame on...

    Diesel exhaust color meaning?

Well, here I go reviving another old thread. My Deuce(Non Turbo) usually gives a good puff of white smoke right as it starts, then idles with a light grey/blue haze. I figure the haze is mainly from the lack of turbo. When under throttle/load, there is always a good amount of blue/gray smoke...

Who has the Highest Mileage Deuce?

I know this is an old thread but my 71 GPD M35a2 shows 1000 hours and 17,600 miles. I can't find one rebuild or MWO tag on it. The engine is a non turbo. Some weird things: the axles and tc are all Rockwell(Ok that's not weird) but the front axle boots are the newer rubber one piece, it does...

    FDC bypass info (yes, again)

I know this is an ancient thread but I too am wondering how to turn the fuel down when bypassing the FDC on a NON turbo multifuel. The LDS troubleshooting TM's procedure with the boost pressure only works for a turbo charged truck. So without a pyro, I was thinking the standard 2 full turns down...

    Downgrades in a Deuce

Would a little weight in the bed between the two rear axles help give the rear tires a bit more stopping power on a hill? I am going to make myself a weight out of some trench plate that will bolt to the bed to make it ride a bit smoother in the rear, so it should help with traction. I was...

    Downgrades in a Deuce

Hey all, Ok, so I found a bunch of threads about on road downgrades in a Deuce, what gears to use going down hill and about using the brakes without cooking them on steep on road hills. However, I haven't found anything about maneuvering a Deuce safely down steep OFF road hills. And I have also...

71 m35a2 no start, no fuel

Cool. I live on the South end of Riverside County. Starting on page 3-32 in the TM number in my previous post tells how to remove the I.P. It tells for both the LDT and LDS pumps but scroll down through it and its all there.[thumbzup]

No Electrical When Ignition Switch is On

Ok so I'm not crazy. I don't think there is a "Master Solenoid" But I'm not totally sure. I have never found one on my truck and I am pretty sure no wires from the master switch run to any kind of relay or solenoid. If I remember correctly, one wire goes to the alternator to excite it and the...
