    New to me Fontaine M172A1

Don’t know where you could get a set. I welded these to the trailer with hinges and springs. One man job to flip up and down. The suggestion for aluminum ramps is a good one.

    MEP-531 flashing

Used the exact same trick to revive a Homelite generator. Worked perfectly. Turns out that if the generator is stopped under load (runs out of fuel) it can lose it's field. Glad I plucked this one from the scrap heap.

MANTUA OH 27 April 2014 Ttrucks and machinery show at Lakeside Sand And Gravel Co.

Ozzytrucker, thank you so much for the info on this event. I was able to take the M113 out there, along with a Sheriff's Dept HMMWV. A perfect weather day, great food, and some awesome equipment on display. Was hoping I would run into you. Aurora, great meeting you at the show! Might have...

MANTUA OH 27 April 2014 Ttrucks and machinery show at Lakeside Sand And Gravel Co.

Got the OK to bring the M113 to Lakesdie for their Open House. Might be the last outing for the APC, truck, and trailer, looks like it is getting retired soon. Hope to see you guys there.

    Brake Upgrade for M172A1 Trailer

Anybody have any experience with upgrading the brake chambers on an M172A1 trailer? I need to go over the whole thing and will probably replace all of the brake lines. The trailer does not have spring (dual chamber) brakes and I would like to have that feature. Other than adding a spring...

    Nice M916 and MET.

davo727, I understand that is a hotly debated topic. Not intending to stir the pot, I respect your opinion.

MANTUA OH 27 April 2014 Ttrucks and machinery show at Lakeside Sand And Gravel Co.

Thanks for the info Ozzytrucker. I have met these guys, our Sheriff's Department has a range at their place. Have actually been there with the M113/M172 for SWAT training. Drove the 113 up to their restoration garage and got to see the D-Day dozer. Am marking the calendar now for the 27th...

    Nice M916 and MET.

Good eye! The 172A1 does not have the hand brake wheel, so you may be right on an early one. It also looks like the deck was widened. How wide could you make it? it's 115" wide stock. The ramps look nice. The ones I did used original ramps, four helper springs on each, can easily be...

    Nice M916 and MET.

Doesn't look like a 172A1, especially with the flip up ramps. I modified the one our PD had with flip ramps, but it does not look that nice.

    Nice M916 and MET.

Thanks for the info on Lakeside Sand & Gravel. That is 15 minutes from my house. I knew he had a lot of cool stuff but did not know they did a show. Will be checking into that one.

    Batteryminder OR Solargizer?

Been using a 24v Battery Tender on a M113 for the last 4 years. Fires up every time. Got it at my local battery dealer, under $100. Just checked Amazon, $70

    New to me Fontaine M172A1

The PD I work for acquired a 172A1 trailer for transporting an M113 APC. My mechanic is all bent about the lack of "spring brakes". Did you do the brake upgrade? Any information on that would be extremely helpful. By the way, I converted our ramps to spring assisted flip-up style. I can...
