    Dipstick oil heater or?

Yes, will run to a GFI outlet in my shop. Just need to open a window a bit. Simple to make a spacer and insulation to fill the opening. Heating pad and battery warmer arrived. Need to make a trip to auto parts store to pick up some more high temp silicone adhesive.

    Dipstick oil heater or?

Thanks for the suggestions! I was thinking about something similar for a power cord to plug all this into. My next question for the forums was for recommendations on a float charger/maintainer for the gen set batteries. Where do you attach the NOCO maintainer so you take care of both...

    Dipstick oil heater or?

Ive kept it outside all these years, Always covered with a canvas tarp. I poured a small concrete pad myself. 12 feet by 5 feet. Approximately 3 inches thick if remember correctly. Located right next to house in corner. So it is close to back door of garage and halway sheltered during...

    Dipstick oil heater or?

Yes, considering a battery warmer also. Each winter I’ve enclosed the batteries with four old seat cushions left over from some outdoor patio furniture. Tied together. Then the tarp over the gen set. Seems to be adequate. But a battery warmer is probably best for overall cold starting...

    Dipstick oil heater or?

I'm now considering a pad style heater that adheres to the pan. Per my search engine results, using a high temperature silicon adhesive, plus the standard adhesive already on the pad, really helps. I found these. Supposedly US made and available in different power levels depending on oil...

    Dipstick oil heater or?

Interested in what members here use to keep the oil and engine block warm on their gen sets during winter months? My generator is a MEP-003. Run monthly under load and professionally hard wired to house electrical system. On concrete pad next to house and always covered with a canvas tarp...

    Fixing leaky MEP oil bolt?

Good morning, Has anyone come up with a source for the fiber washers on the MEP 002/003 oil filter mounting bolts? I measured my original one and hunted the local hardware stores and auto parts stores for similar sizes. They all leaked. The bolt itself looks good as is the canister where the...

Square o-ring for an oil filter? MEP-003

Thought I'd give everyone an update. The spin on filter conversion is done and has been working well. Only issue was the cheap fittings from the distributor. Very undersize on the pitch diameter. Wound up machining a mounting bolt and using one of the fittings to machine a jam nut out of it...

Square o-ring for an oil filter? MEP-003

Hi, Thanks for the dimensions. Looks simple to do. Might get a wild hair and anodize it OD green. Went to the local NAPA. None of the 5108s in stock. But they'll ship out with some other stuff (from East Coast) so no additional shipping. Where did you get your -12AN flare adapter?

Square o-ring for an oil filter? MEP-003

Square o-ring for an oil filter? MEP-003

What kind of filters does everyone like with the spin on conversions? I use Wix in my truck. Does anyone have pictures of the parts for the conversion?

Square o-ring for an oil filter? MEP-003

Hmm, I think I got the right part numbers from Onan. will check with the local generator shop that handles Onan. Will report back here. Will investigate doing a spin on conversion also.

Square o-ring for an oil filter? MEP-003

Yes, got the TM with the NSNs. But the local places haven't been able to cross-reference. But I'm going to keep looking. There is an outfit in Oshkosh Wisconsin that has an online store with them listed by NSN. They specialize in military surplus. But I'd like to find a local automotive or...

Square o-ring for an oil filter? MEP-003

Damaged the square o-ring for the oil filter canister during an oil change. The generator is a MEP-003. I "borrowed" another o-ring from my spare Fram CH6PL filter. I would like to have a couple extra o-rings on hand in case that happens again. I've tried my local tractor parts store. They...

Glow plugs replaced and now hard to start?

Sorry for the delay. I don't get on here nearly often enough. 1. Paid $1,000 and some change at the auction. That was buyer's fee, tax, etc if I remember right. 2. The interlock on the pole is between the generator and the house panel. Just to isolate the generator. Makes it simple to do...

Glow plugs replaced and now hard to start?

The electrician worked a bit over two hours to do the installation. Mostly dealing with the half frozen ground. Thought the interlock switch was interesting. It is the gray box on the post. Slip the cover open and the black handle is what you pull out and reverse to allow current to flow...
