    M1010 spare tire location

Just a quick observation. If you were to flip the tire over is it possible the studs will be long enough? Or is it deeper on that side?

    Project m1010

Warwag what is the approx height from the floor to the top of your seat. Mine sits at about 12-13 inches and seems too low for comfort for my legs I should have measured my M1009 when I had it to see what height they were at as it did not seem like my legs were cramped in it.

    Identifying a 60's generator set

Might consider hooking up some car alternators up to be belt fed and charge up some batteries, then use a convertor(if available) to run the refrigerators. Of course this is not the site to discuss this but there are several out there. Good luck I have been following the situation for a couple...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The key I used for my first M1009 was to the M1008 I drove in the Seabees still has the vehicle Navy number on it. Still use that key. Almost all Seabee mechanic and EO's from the 80's 90's prob still have a key on their key chain or laying around in their gear somewhere

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Has there been a rash of CUCV thefts. When I purchased my latest from the Police dept they were amazed when I handed the keys they gave me to the wife told them I already had a key and started it up. They said they had no idea the keys were the same for all of them.

    Vaccum pump for 6.2l

So far so good no leaks and it appears to be working. Daily driver again. Shift is so smooth now, even more than before the pump failed.

    M1010 spare tire location

I know an old thread. Instead of a swing out why not a swing down carrier. The carrier would fold up/down with the help of the Stretcher lift, place the tire into the carrier bolt it in place and then lift it up and secure it with a pin.

    Vaccum pump for 6.2l

The pump(rebuilt) is still available from NAPA. The local carquest owner was happy to help out. The first (distributor gasket did not fit) so he started going through his gaskets. He said this part of the job was more satisfying then just pulling a part that the computer said was the...

    Vaccum pump for 6.2l

Thanks, I will check with the local carquest tomorrow. They still have some real parts counter guys that might find something in stock that will work. If not have no problems making my own. Then I will be rebuilding the old pump. I did get it to work for a couple days by putting a couple oz...

    Vaccum pump for 6.2l

NAPA had the vacuum pump. Now I need the gasket. Looks like I may have to make one. Will cork work for the gasket or is there some other material I should use to make this gasket?

    M1101/M1102 for Alaskan expedition

I used a set of magnetic lights and attached them to the top of the tailgate of the trailer. Worked fine and did not fall off for the four hour trip back home.

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Thanks I seem to remember ours had them and they were mounted in the center section not behind the seat like in the M-1008. I just do not remember if they were the same mounts or something different. All our medics carried 45's/9mm pistols.

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Question, did they ever have a gun rack mounting hardware like is found in the M-1009 and M-1008? While your group would have two corpsmen one to drive and one to administer in the back ours did not. Seabee Battalions are limited in the number of Corpsmen. I believe we had 6 at the most for...

What year fuel fill cap under the seat

Funny how I spotted the missing fuel fill but missed the missing steering wheel. I also missed the spare tire on the wrong side.

What year fuel fill cap under the seat

A friend posted in FB this picture of his of a Seabee MUTT in Vietnam, I noticed there was no fill cap on the side like every other one I have seen. Is this a in-field modification or did they make some that way.

Cucv fuel filter replacement or not?

Ditto this, stock is okay but you need to bleed all the air out of it after you put the new one on. Mine had a plastic tube on the side that I could put in a container to get all the air out. After my second filter change the base started leaking so I changed it all out to a spin on...
