change from 100 amp altermator to 60

I have a M923 with a bad generator and after some research have determined that is must be a 100 amp with 3 big post and 3 small pins in a screw on connection. Can I convert to the more popular 60 amp and if so how.

    M998 driven to fast

I just looked at my Humvee and I'm not sure where the ground needs to be placed. I was told under the wiper box. Is that the washer fluid on the drivers side. I hooked up a jumper cable from the grd on the generator to the engine and still no start. Shouldn't there sunburned diesel come out...

    M998 driven to fast

I told him to drive 53 because of the warning on the speedometer. I bought a maintenance truck with the generator/welder etc. a few years back in Vegas at the air base. I flew down to drive it home. I called a military equipment supplier in Ogden and they told me that I could drive it at 70...

    M998 driven to fast

The glow lug light turns on and the goes off in a few seconds. The volt gauge also indicates that the glow plugs are cycling because it goes up and down. I will check the fuel in the morning. thanks for the replies.

    M998 driven to fast

A farmer friend of mine drove my M1030 over night that I had for sale and I told him not to go over 53 mph. I think that he drove it to fast because he said that it no problem going 60. I also noticed that he had used a half of a tank of fuel. It was in his heated garage when I picked it up...

foaming power steering fluid and hard to steer

I have a 87 Humvee and the power steering pump is making a lot of noise like it is full of ball bearings or something and it is foaming really bad. The radiator was recently pulled out for repair and replaced so I checked the lines that go to the cooler and everything seems to be correct...

oil gage works and then stops working after about ten minutes.

I buy 5 tons for farming and ranching here in North Dakota and now and then I get a truck that the oil gage works right after the truck is started but after a few minutes or when I look at it again it is down to zero. I always shut the truck down and check for leaks and check the oil. The last...

    alcohol evaporator on m939

I live in Bowman North Dakota and just had two M939's delivered from the south on a step deck. It was hard to get them off of the trailer because the brakes would not release, I believe the air lines were frozen due to moisture in the lines and the 3 degree temps here. I looked at the TM and...

    torque converter replacement

A while back I posted that my M998 was blowing transmission seals after just one drive. It was recommended that I replace the pump bushing which I have had done at a local shop. Looking at the torque converter I noticed some groves in the neck about 3/8 inch wide and decided to replace the...

    massive transmission input seal leak

I bought a 1987 m998 on line and the transmission pumps fluid out of the dust cover around the fly wheel. It pumped about a quart out every 30-40 seconds. I pulled the transmission and replaced the input seal? The seal did not look burnt, warn out and was still soft and pliable. After...
