Sent a Deuce and trailer down the road with this company today. Small operation with great service and equipment, 53' ramp step deck beaver tail. Both the dispatch and driver were polite, knowledgeable and did exactly what they said they would do. Actually, showed up early even. Been a...
My Dad was using the 1008 to haul a load of wood home from the farm. It started to get gutless coming up a hill and then smoked a bit and died on side of road. He called Mom to bring some oil. Turns out my near 80 yo parents deduced that there was no oil appearing on the dipstick...
Howdy gang. I've been away and out of the game for a while, having read and searched posts for an hour, I miss this site. Long story short, my son wants to drive a deuce in the FFA event next week. Been 6 years since a deuce fired up.
1 Drained fuel and cleaned tank it was gummy shellac...
The kids wanted to play in the snow and so did I. They wanted to burn energy and I wanted to burn gas. We all ended up having fun. I was happy with the 715 in 2 wheel drive. The snow wasn't deep but a couple of small hills didn't stop it. In 4x4 it really did well for not having a locker...
Howdy guys
I can't find specs on the M1010 that don't conflict with other sources. Does the M1008 and the M1010 have identical axles and lockers?
I'm looking to add a M1010 and maybe a M1028 to the motor pool if anyone has a nice one available in the midwest.
Thanks
Jason
For all you DC-3 / C-47 fans, Rockfalls IL at the Whitside County (SQI) airport 7/23 -7/26/10 there will be the largest gathering of these planes in recent history, some say since WWII. They will be on display and flying through the weekend and then assembling for a 40+ bird fly over in...
Bit of a mystery...to me anyway. A gentleman saw my trucks and decided to swing in and talk to my Dad. He wondered if we would be interested in both axles, transfercase, transmission for a 1947 Hy-Hoe Dodge. He said he had the registration from years ago and it lists it as a 1959 on there.
He...
I started out by telling my wife that I wanted to purchase a 1968 bright red classic convertible. She wasn't very impressed. I added that it was a limited edition that was only produced for 3 years ish and approx 33,000 ever made. And still she wasn't too happy. Once I broke down and told...
Running out of options need some expert advise. Picked up my new M715 on Sat. About 5 miles into the drive home it started running rough. A minute or so later it would practicaly cut out completely and sputter. Push in the clutch and let it idle and it would come out of it. Get back into it...
Talk about found in the back room!! A friend of my Dad's found out we had several military trucks and asked if we wanted to buy a wrecker that was left behind by the military when they closed our depot. We went and looked at it and my first thought is it was a civilian wrecker that the Army...
This June (12th is the planned date) there will be a parade to mark the 10th anniversary of the closing of the Savanna Army Depot. Tentative plans are to have current military vehicles from local units and past MV's of all ages to participate in a parade. The last comander of the Depot is...
Not sure what to call it and couldn't find anything on it searching either. One of my deuces (the one I drive a lot) makes a sound after shutdown that none of the others do. You can hear air evacuating with authority for about 20 seconds and then a distinct air "pop" and then all is quiet. It...
What a difference tires make. I switched to 34"x10.5"x16" tires on my stock POS wheels. Very minor fender trimming was done and may not have been needed. Didn't want to take any chances on tearing up sidewalls. Truck is otherwise stock.
The truck went places Saturday in 2 wheel drive that...
Question for all the winch / winching experts:
Anyone ever install a 40K winch on the front of a deuce or possibly a bobber? It should fit based on ruff dimensions. May have to do some bumper mods. I don't need it, may seldom use it but have access to a complete one. The weight will be...
I have a problem. All the deuces I currently have are nice. Not tooting my horn but it is a fact. I've been debating for awhile and I've decided that I should have a .....bob deuce. I never thought I'd care but after getting more involved w/the MV thing I've come to think that cutting a...
The former Savanna Army Depot may be having a MV get together in the future. Are there any members that would like to participate? It is in the very early planning stages but the depot was closed as part of the BRAC. It is located literally on the banks of the Mississippi and is a beautful...
Hey guys, long story short. A guy that use to live near my town in Illinois saw an article in the newspaper about my Dad and I rebuilding M35's. He called from Tucson AZ and offered me his 1942 GMC 6x6. He isn't sure if it is a M211 or what but from the sounds of it, it may very well be. The...
Hey guys, one of my new deuces has this little handle / lever next to the front axle lever? The attached photo is not mine but shows the same handle. It appears to have a picture of a windshield on this one but the image is gone on mine.
Thanks
Jason
Here is our old tree pulling machine. We called it the War Wagon because it was shot out before we got it. It worked well for it's purpose. Not sure what year or what it actually was / is.
Believe it or not, this is what it looked like when we parked it. It didn't start the following year...
