Full M939 firetruck service guidance questions

Howdy y'all. We built a pretty sizable firetruck from an m939 a while back for our brushfires. It's actually gone down with us and helped in Houston after the hurricane. We've done regular maintenance, but I want bumper to bumper full maintenance done since it was in 6' of water and it's seen a...

    Another 5ton towing scenario question

I see what you're saying. That'd be quite the conversion. I'll look into it. Thanks ya'll for taking your time. And side note, fixed a fuel-priming issue today. Hose from the LP LP from the filter had pin sized holes all through it. Disconnected the hardline at the tank and pressured up the...

    Another 5ton towing scenario question

Ya It'll be long term. But it will only drive 80-100 miles max per trip. About 2x a month. And yes, the CW chase trucks haul the extra CWs. You park close to the crane and use the crane to unload from the truck and stack them on the deck of the crane. Then the crane swings around and picks up...

    Another 5ton towing scenario question

Hauling. Not towing. Lol Sorry about that, I was anxious to get the question out there and wasn't thinking.

    Another 5ton towing scenario question

Wow. Super quick. Thanks guys. And it would be only towing the CWs. I would probably build my own bed. And I'd turn it up a hair and throw in some 4k gov springs to help the power. And the crane only goes 60mph. I can leave the (2) 3,500lb cheek weights off which would only be towing 22k lbs

    Another 5ton towing scenario question

Howdy gents. I have a 1991 5ton with the troop bed on it. I have 29k pounds of counterweights for a crane that I might want to tow with it. They would not be trailered, they would be rigged to pin into the bed over the axles. That would put +16k lbs on each of the rear axle? Is this a big...

Problem with Allison transmission. Is there any Allison experts out there?

This is 6 years later, and this forum still saved my butt. Once again. Our 5ton/brush fire truck was dead in ththe water with this same issue. Do yall know what the button on the end of the 4wd lever is technically called?

    5Ton Brush/wildland/fire truck Build

"To knock down brush". Hah.. Kidding. Because it looks cool. And the plumbing is all internal coated pipe and fittings. Half the cost of stainless but still get the corrosion resistance. And freelance/volunteer? With the county FD but paid for by a company? It's a weird situation.

    5Ton Brush/wildland/fire truck Build

Ya. That makes sense. Might just get another screened 90° if possible

    5Ton Brush/wildland/fire truck Build

Is it ok to run it without a screen? Mines pretty nasty

    5Ton Brush/wildland/fire truck Build

Haha! I instructed my brother to pull the guts of the stat while I was working on some tank piping. He only heard half of what I said and pulled the whole thing. Luckily I was low on coolant and only leaked a gallon or so. My big Oring is pretty flat and hard. And I'll try to get a video of it...

    5Ton Brush/wildland/fire truck Build

Haha. Thanks. The plumbing of the pump allows me to either draft to fill, or use it to spray from our nozzle up top. The dual exhaust on the pump is only to keep the exhaust from hitting the tank. The railing allows a verrrry tight walk down the sides and is there for when kids want to ride...

    5Ton Brush/wildland/fire truck Build

Hey guys. I posted a while back when I got the trucks (a year now?). Well after y'all answered a few easy questions, I was able to get underway. The truck unfortunately was blown apart for painting after I fabbed everything up and wasn't useable during these last round of fires y'all might have...

    '91 5ton tail-light conversion

22 460 is the right side. 461 is the left. ....... Crap. Let me go check again. I think I flubbed up. And of course. Ugh. I'm better than this. Been a long year so far.... Haha. Thanks guys, they'll be wired up within the hour

    '91 5ton tail-light conversion

Ya. Definitely! I've got everything lined out EXCEPT (always something) wire 21 (Light switch (HT) to service tail lamp) is always hot right now. I thought 21 is stop lights... The book says 22 is (Light switch (S) to service stop lamp) but I don't have a 22 wire back there..[/COLOR]

    '91 5ton tail-light conversion

Thank y'all. A ton. I'm working on it today. All is going well, I found I had a pinched wire further up the line and that's why I was having such a hard time. I've read the -10 all the way through 2-3 times, but was tired and in bed each time. Big mistake. Lol I'll try to post pics soon

    '91 5ton tail-light conversion

That's good info. I'm afraid I have a problem with some of the wiring then because i was not getting any running light power to any wires. And it's a fire truck so i built a flat bed for it to lower the center of gravity for the tank. Theyre 12/24v led oval lights. I wish I was better at...

    '91 5ton tail-light conversion

So nobody has converted their tail lights? I guess once I get it figured it out I'll post up what I did

    '91 5ton tail-light conversion

Alright thanks! I saw somewhere that you have to run a wire from the cab to the passenger light for the stop? I'm obviously lost.... I'll keep reading, I just hoped someone had already done this once.
