Apolgies for not concluding the thread sooner. I've done a conclusion below as it could be useful to someone else in the future. 😊
I did as suggested and disconnected the Transmission linkage (tape was put on the trunnions on the two linkages so they would not move). The Transmission linkage...
Hi guys,
Having a problem where the Transmission selector has been getting harder to move from Drive to Neutral.
I've had a look through the TM's and I'm going to start with the selector box, hoping when I take it out and clean everything it'll sort it. Hoping it's a sticky shaft, down from...
Thanks for your help again, I'll add that switch to the list of bits to get when I come over to the States. I have also tried a (21w equiavalent) LED bulb, which directs all the light back, not all around like a normal bulb. It does take far less power, about 4w, and looks as bright as my...
Hi Guys,
To get my HMMWV through the yearly MOT test in England I need to have separate orange indicators, rather than the standard combined brake/indicator unit.
I will be moving the cables that go to the standard rear combined lights and connecting them to the newly fitted orange...
Hi Kurt,
Thanks for the links, had a bit of a break from my Humvee as I had a nasty Norovirus, yuck!. I fancied making the Spindle Nut Socket and finished a couple of days ago, photo below.
Started as a block of steel 60mm dia by 50mm long, nice little project :-o
Hi Guys,
I am going to make a Spindle Nut Socket, as they are hard to get and expensive with shipping ($60), English Taxes (20%) and Royal Mail handling charge ($10). Yes, another Tea Party would be nice
I've got most of the critical dimensions from measuring the Spindle Nuts, but need...
I should have finished my post sooner, but better late than ever :D
I took the Voltage Regulator off in situ, which proved to be a waste of effort. I used a camera to see what it was like inside the rear of the Alternator and it was just black with carbon dust. So removed the Alternator and...
Hi Ken,
I got the kit from Southern Automotive Wholesalers, I've put a photograph below of the box top with the part number (AMA-1015AS)

Sarah
Hi Guys, I struggled to get just the brushes for my 60Amp Regulator, but managed to get a kit with brushes, springs, brush holder and spacers. Included in the kit were three brushes. Any ideas why there are three brushes, as only two are used?
Many thanks,
Sarah
Hi Guys,
I've finally got some replacement brushes/springs for my 60A Alternator and went about fitting them.
I did notice that the Brush Holder was not perpendicular to the Rotor and the brushes had worn off center. There is play when fitting the Brush Holder, presumably it is meant to be at...
Hi Guys
I was reading TM 9-2320-280-2, section 3-82, on adjusting the drivebelts. The text says to use a Belt Tension Gauge, but only gives a deflection force (90 +- 5lbs for a used belt), not any deflection distance. Am I missing something? Be grateful for any help.
Regards,
Sarah
I've got a kit of brushes, guides springs etc. from Southern Automotive, thanks for their details. I'll keep you posted when I can change the regulator and brushes.
Thanks juanprado that should help a lot 😁 My alternator is a AMA5104UT, where the manual covers a AMA5102UT, but from what I've seen looks very similar. I think the AMA5104UT superseded the AMA5102UT.
Best wishes,
Sarah
