Hi Guys,

I've finally got some replacement brushes/springs for my 60A Alternator and went about fitting them.

I did notice that the Brush Holder was not perpendicular to the Rotor and the brushes had worn off center. There is play when fitting the Brush Holder, presumably it is meant to be at 90 degrees to the rotor. Just wanted to confirm before I fitted them. I was also surprised how much carbon was in there as well, all clean now

Sarah, the brush holder should be 90 degrees to the sliprings and there is a small amount of adjustment range with the mounting screws. This is to insure the brushes wear evenly and don't chatter as the alternator runs. Use some fine grit sandpaper to arc the new brushes so they fit evenly on the sliprings.
