    4L80E Fresh Rebuild in Limp Mode w/ codes 73 & 87

Yes - with everything hooked up and TCM unplugged, I'm only getting continuity to ground at pins C1 & C2 which are the two system grounds. Interesting observation just now - after disconnecting the battery for over an hour, then checking codes without even starting the truck, let alone drive...

    4L80E Fresh Rebuild in Limp Mode w/ codes 73 & 87

The TISS / TOSS wiring had continuity from the TCM to the sensor plugs on all the wires. I changed both sensors but still the same issue where it goes straight into limp mode after the first successful 1 - 2 shift, and throws codes 73 & 87. Now I have to decide whether to spend money on a scan...

    Great Intel, thanks!

    4L80E Fresh Rebuild in Limp Mode w/ codes 73 & 87

That is going to be my next question if the speed sensors don't pan out. Will any 4L80E TCM from a non-turbo work if I'm able to find a diesel civ truck of the same vintage? Side note - I find it odd my non-turbo truck has a turbo TCM as it is.

    4L80E Fresh Rebuild in Limp Mode w/ codes 73 & 87

Yeah, after reading the last message, I found 2 sensors on rockauto for $11. I'm going to just swap them out, verify continuity in the wires and hope for the best. Which TCM did you have and where'd you source a replacement?

    4L80E Fresh Rebuild in Limp Mode w/ codes 73 & 87

I did read it, but the actual troubleshooting steps require a scan tool which I don't have. I didn't know the TISS/TOSS are known issue items, so I will definitely focuse my attention there. Thanks!

    4L80E Fresh Rebuild in Limp Mode w/ codes 73 & 87

Howdy. I just finished a 2 year rebuild and took the Humvee for a test drive after getting it registered. One aspect of the rebuild was having the transmission rebuilt at a reputable transmission shop (bench rebuild with no test drive at time of rebuild). During my recent test drives, the...

Smoked brand new diodes - GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator

Oh, the current diodes are ashes. haha. So where am I taking these resistance readings? I assume across the various windings? Looking for continuity to ground?

Smoked brand new diodes - GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator

Ok, I ordered a 'megger' insulation tester and should be able to spend some time on this in a few days. I'm going to research exactly how to do the test and what readings I'm looking for, but any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Smoked brand new diodes - GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator

Thanks for the info! To clarify - the exciter is the same as the rotor/rotating assembly? I'll have to do some research but I' assuming if I remove the diodes again, I can take resistance reading in place of the 6 diodes and look for a dead short?

Smoked brand new diodes - GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator

The mecc alte rep just sent this 700+ page manual. I'm hoping there's some troubleshooting flowcharts and/or various specs that I can start pouring over. I see on page 45 that it appears I did install the diodes in the correct polarity. Which makes sense because when I acquired the generator...

Smoked brand new diodes - GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator

Mecc Alte would not give that up. They also would not give any of the specs on them, and when they arrived they showed up in a clear plastic baggie and have no markings on them aside from the band on one side. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find diodes that did not cost $27 a...

That doesn't sound good. What's the remedy?

Need some GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator Electrical Help

@Scoobyshep @kloppk - Hoping you guys have some insight for me. Installed the new AVR today (opted for the correct one, not a universal one). After install I'm back to getting 4 VAC out of the alternator, and across red to red at the AVR. However, If I try to flash the yellow/blue wire with...

Need some GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator Electrical Help

Update - Still getting between 40-60 vac out of the alternator. Went back to step 1 of the troubleshooting and re-verified some steps. Red to Red at the voltage regulator is about 33 vac when running. When I try and flash the blue / yellow at the voltage regulator with a 9v battery, anything...

Need some GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator Electrical Help

Update - Thanks to everyone and their suggestions. Turns out I didn't have to pull that rear bearing housing at all. I forgot the generator spins, and after remembering, I was able to bump it over and access the diodes. Spoke to the sole Mecc Alte dealer in the US. They sell a ton of these...

Need some GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator Electrical Help

Yeah, as soon as I touched the DVOM probes to the diode leads, they just crumbled. Do you know how this bearing carrier comes off? Do I need to use a puller, or should it just pry off?
