More so the tire had some rust dust on the bead that i was able to take off with the wire wheel, and then the bead on the rim was just a little gunked up with some rust, but was easily able to take it off with the wire wheel. I read about the bead sealing compound, wonder if i need to get some...
Hey guys - anybody have any tips or tricks to get the 12-bolt HMMWV wheels to seal up completely? I have the newer style 12 bolts with the centering hole and am replacing the worn out 37" BFGoodrich Baja T/A's with a new set. Never had any slow leaks on them before, but now I can't get the new...
CUCVRUS - you were definitely on the right track pointing me to the area to inspect - the wires had worn away closer to the tail light though - looks like they were both rubbing on the edge of the metal where they go up through the hole into the taillight receptacle. about 5 inches of the...
Well guys, i figured out my issue and got it all fixed. My theory was partially correct. I'll explain for anyone that may encounter this issue in the future since it took me a while to understand how this issue was occurring, but now that i understand it, it makes the wiring diagrams and the...
CUCVRUS - I don't think it was originally. Actually i know it wasn't. After the courtesy lamp fuse broke, i replaced it with a 20A and it blew again. Then i went to a 25A fuse, same issue. Then i went to a 30A fuse, and the 30A headlight fuse blew instead (i know this isn't smart practice, but i...
Shouldn't really have had any ice build up as i keep the truck in the garage. I checked all the other lights and they all work. The flashers and turn signals all work. May be of interest, but the rear drivers flasher and turn signal was not working when i dove into this issue, so i tackled that...
Hey guys - i'm having an electrical issue that i need help on. My courtesy lamp/tail light fuse keeps blowing whenever i turn on my headlights. This is weird because i cannot pinpoint any reason or event as to why it would have happened. Was all working fine until the weather got cold so maybe...
Thank you so much!!! I had messed around with it and got them out by partially putting the axle shaft back in the axle housing, propping the carrier in there, sticking a screw driver in the axle shaft to prevent it from turning, and rotating the carrier by partially sliding the crosspin in and...
Hey guys - Need some help on removing the spider gears from my 60 on my 86 M1028.
I tore the front axle down to replace the inner axle seals since they were leaking, and when i pulled the carrier, i noticed that the clutch discs retaining clips on one side of the carrier had both broken and...
Morning Guys,
Question for all of you that have done the doghead relay mod. My M1028 has been converted to 12V and had the doghead relay mod done. Got water in my starter this summer after a couple of offroad trips, and replaced it a couple months ago. All has been fine until this past weekend...
Ahhhh, makes sense. Yup, the starter support bracket was not super tight when i took off the Delco starter as it pivoted on the bolt when i pulled down the starter, so i snugged it up tight when i threw the new Ultima one on. How would i know if i need to throw a shim on the starter?
Sorry, was posting from my phone and thought it would work. Here are the pictures:
I just ended up throwing the Ultima one from O'reilly's in it since it has the lifetime warranty. Fired right up and haven't had any issues. Only weird thing is that the Delco starter didn't have any shims with...
Hey guys. Long time follower of this site, recent owner of a 1986 M1028. Need to replace or rebuild my starter, but looking for advice. Mine is converted to 12V, and has an ACDelco 28MT gear reduction starter. Has been in the truck for at least 5 years - not sure exactly how long as the prior...
