    Has anyone actually driven a M35 20+hours?

Come to think of it I have driven a deuce for 6 hours or more on a grass/heavy brush fire, and most of the driving is in off road sand, sometimes at very precarious angles 20 to 30 degrees side pitch with 1000 gallons of water on board, the only time I got out was to fill the beast up with...

    Has anyone actually driven a M35 20+hours?

If someone would let me use their deuce, I would gladly make the drive anywhere any time. Good luck on your trip take lots of breaks, even if you think you don't need them. 620 out

Question about a possible Alternative fuel.

I am also an A&P, but I work on the commercial side of the house, I can get my hands on a almost limitless supply of used 5606 when I get a deuce, I was just wondering since it was petroleum based will it function ok as a fuel, I totally forgot that you might need to check your o-rings and seals...

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

That's just funny right there, having your smoke called in as a fire. But I do understand if the county is providing some/all of your fuel for you, you can't ignore the benifits of having that expense paid. maybe if i can find a free c or d turbo I will install it on that other deuce, oh and...

Question about a possible Alternative fuel.

Ok I am an aircraft mechanic, I have access to alot of used Mil-H-5606 hydraulic fluid, provided I filter the heck out of it, is it possible to use this as a fuel for a Deuce? If not, why? I am just currious, and wish to know more about these engines and what they will run on. 620 Out

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

I put the separate 12Vot system on yesterday, we'll see how it works. I am using the pump motor as the charging system for this system, as the 12 volt equipment is usually only running when the pump is running or about to be run. I will keep ya'll informed as to what happens 620 Out

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

I thought the ldt465's were all the same, weather they were in a 5 ton or a deuce..... but hey I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time....I was married once!!!

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

There is only a 4 hp difference between the 2 engines, I don't know if the LD-465 has A higher failure rate than the LDT-465 models. I do know that the primairy job of the turbo was not to boost horsepower, but to get a better burn out of the fuel. I assume (and I know assumption is the mother...

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

I was thinking of running a seperate 12 volt system using the pump motor to charge the extra battery, and use the pump motor as the primary power source, I will let you know how that turns out.....just gotta get the chief to buy the batteries and the wire, and find a place to mount the stuff, as...

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

We Had 2 deuces till this little fiasco, but now we are down to 1, and now it has decided to eat batteries......ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH. you can look at all of our equipment at Eula Volunteer Fire Department if ya want to, just 1 pic of each, but it will give you an Idea of the mechanical...

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

Seafire, Yes we have had plenty of grass fires around here, more than enougt to beat up every piece of equipment we have, by some miracle we (as a department) have been able to keep most of our trucks able to respond to the fires. But this fire season and drought have been a bear to deal...

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

this is the deuce i am looking for a non swiss cheese version of a radiator for, but to my knowledge it hasn't overheated, we add water constantly because the temp guage is flaky, reads full scale hot all the time when the master switch is turned on. I have bigger fish to fry with all of the...

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

To start off, we used this Deuce to fight a fire last night, it ran great and performed well. It has the LD-465-1 engine in it. Which thanks to several of you around here I finally got to achieve 56 MPH by changing fuel filters and turning up the fuel a little, didn't go to much cause I didn't...

    Lug nut question??

This is slightly off topic, but I have to ask, why did they put left hand threads on all the lug nuts except the front right wheel? I was changing tires on one of the fire department's deuces, and it struck me as goofy, or are these deuces goofy, they are both the same, so I am assuming that all...

    Yellow paint.....why?

Fortunately this truck goes no where near an airfield, it is a heavy brush fire truck. we use it in areas where the smaller trucks don't have the brute force or weight to get to, so we use it as a bulldozer/fire truck. 620 out

    Cooking oil in a deuce?

But if I change the oil, Tranny fluid, transfer case oil, rear end diff fluid, and front end diff fluid in my Ford F250, and replace it with new fluid which I buy at the store and pay taxes on. Then take the old fluids, and pour it into a deuce, am I really evading taxes? Now I am not paying...

    New to the Deuce/5-Ton

I am 6'03" and I have no problem driving the deuces that the fire department has, but if I happen to have to ride in the passenger seat to a fire, both knees are permanently pressed against the glove box..... Probably is a good Idea for me to be first to the station so I can Dive . 620 Out
