Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Yeah it is, I mean yeah I could've spent more on one that didn't need as much work and was operational but I didn't want to have a bidding war with other guys on the auction site. I looked for one when the time was almost up, this one had only 1 bid so I said why not and placed a bid on it and I...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

I won the bid for $5250 and when the tax and the titling fees were all said and done it came out to be $6236. I have a buddy with a flatbed so we're going to go down to Virginia to pick it up once the EUC is all cleared.

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Yeah that's what my friend and I were just talking about, we want to see what's operational and what's not, and to only get the mandatory things that are needed. And yeah you guessed it, personally I have no experience working on a diesel. However, I do have some kind of experience working on a...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Yeah this is probably my best option to do at this point. The main things I'm going to order soon is the rear driveshaft and new fuel tank (to see if it even runs with what visually it needs and from what it told me on the inspection report). Of course, the fluids will all need to be drained as...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

I want to work on it myself, but I just don't want to screw up. Maybe I'm just over thinking, I'll just have a better understanding with what I'm up against once I have it. I'm a Criminal Justice student, so this is like a side job for me. Maybe it's all of this research and information I'm...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

However, I ultimately would like to bring this Humvee to a shop to be worked on, but I have no clue where to go... I live in North Jersey. Does anyone know any places close by that would be intrested? It really doesn't matter where because I have a readily available flatbed. Either I find a good...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Yeah that's my plan as of now, that's why I'm trying to find and compile a list of what I want. I'm going to be ordering the materials soon. As stated above in Scottsburg, VA

Alright, thank you! Hopefully it won't be in "too bad" of shape once I get it!

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Very valid points. I'm coming into this knowing that I'm going to have to replace a good amount of parts. I think ultimately that's the fun of owning one of these great vehicles. Hopefully once I have it everything will work once I replace the fuel tank, rear driveshaft, etc... but we'll see...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Wow, looks great! That's the same theme I want to do with my Humvee. Also, I want to get two whip antennas for mine, could you direct me where to buy them and the other materials such as the brackets? One more thing, I like those headlights too could you direct me to them as well? Thank you!

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Thanks guys for the extremely valuable responses! I feel very welcomed here. Yes, I will admit I didn't read the fine print in regards to having to wait for the EUC before I picked the Humvee up, now I know. In regards to the up-armored doors, I wasn't sure if those were hard to find or not, I...

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Quick question guys, is it possible to get my hands on these armored doors for the Humvee? If so, where could I possibly get them? Thank you.

Going to pick up a 1987 HMMWV

Hey guys, I'm new to the site but I figured I would make an account here so others can assist me with my newly purchased HMMWV from GovPlanet. I still have yet to pick it up but will be doing so in the next few days. It's located in Scottsburg Virginia, and I'm from New Jersey... it's going to...
