    Make sure to pack the bearings good on the "dry" side of the hub, other wise the inside bearings and the outside bearings will be wet from the gear oil.

    I took my brake shoes off, maybe they are in the way and stiff springs are making it difficult to remove the hub. Hey, if what you did works, then run with it.

    It should slide off, from what I remember when I did mine there is nothing stopping the hub from coming off from the looks of this pic.
