New to me and Dad M38A1

I glanced under my M38A1, but there is too much stuff in the way to really see lol, and the rear one I saw had the bent clamps. I'll have to check the other three when I get things moved around cause that one could've been replaced over time. Haven't done anything with the M38 since we bought...

Well I still don't know what leafs I have then. lol The sets that I have are 35 1/4" eye to eye with 10 leafs and two bolt retainers, the other set is about 40.5" eye to eye with 11 leafs and 4 bolt on retainers. Though there are some numbers I'll have to look up.

Helomedic, Looks like your getting ready to go full bore on the project and I'm guessing you will be building another A1 in the future. Feels good getting the parts together doesn't it. Seems like getting the parts can be just as much fun as anything else. One thing about the pictures...

Another thing to add on about restorations of military vehicles. It's okay to have a small dent here or a run in the paint there. As you probably know, most minor repairs are done in motor pools by soldiers with little or no body work experience. When I repainted the motor on my M151A2, I...

Now this is a very GOOD point. Restoring a military vehicle does not require factory specifications on everything. Units have always modified vehicles to fit their needs. One perfect example was I added a 12v plug in my M998 for a phone charger, most all our trucks had CBs added to them for...

It kinda looks like a voltage regulator. Was the Jeep converted to 12V? Where do the wires run to?

I've heard of that rattle too. Right now I'm not that far into my rebuild but from what I've read, adding the spring was part of WO-803358. I haven't found that work order myself but also haven't searched too much. But if it goes away after adding a click or two and then comes back when...

If you look for pictures online, make sure you look at 3 or more pictures of the same item. That way you get a better idea and don't just look at what one person did because they might have changed something. Also Surplus City Jeep Parts has their parts catalog setup with pictures from the...

If you need some pictures of the military engine, trans, or transfer case let me know. I've got all mine rebuilt but haven't got a chance to paint and install them yet so pictures would be easy.

Looks like you got a good project. Congrats. I'm restoring a M38A1 right now. After you get them hit me up as I have a pair of fenders for the M38A1. Also look up Peter DeBella for parts. I've gotten a lot of my parts from him.
