My memory is foggy on that. Jack your truck from front and back to your desired ride height. Measure the distance between perches. The springs are around 500lbs per inch of compression. If you can weigh your front and rear(some truck stops have scales). You can do the math from there. They are...
I ordered 4 springs all the same. I cut one coil from rear. Can't remember what I did on front. I do know i tried to put rears in without cutting. It raised the back off ground when trying to jack a arm up. I since have added a spare ture carrier and the rear sits a little lower than front. I...
I really am happy with the springs. I can't remember part number but yes armada springs part number as recommended to me earlier. I would cut 1 1/2 coil for front and cut 2 coils on rear. I haven't changed shocks yet. I'm told they will make a big difference and am inclined to believe it. I have...
Can you think of any reasons why I couldn't run a limit strap inside the spring and use the 1/2 shock bolts for mounting points. I would just need to get the right length.
It was the same shop, so not sure. I'm right at 25" from center of wheel to bottom of fender. If you look in the post above it looks like the length has to be specified. Each length has a sku# I'm guessing the one with a 11-12" compressed length. I really appreciate your help. I'll call when I'm...
It's odd you say that. I was thinking that after the springs settle the rear will most likely be higher resulting from the same springs but with different weight from front to rear. I was avoiding in my head removing the rears to cut shorter and came to the idea to carefully heat the coil in...
Got the fronts installed a last week. I wasn't there for the front install but they said they couldn't the front in full length and cut 1 coil off same as we did on the rear. I haven't measured it to see actual lift and haven't driven it much. I plan to use a fair amount this week and will...
I called MOOG customer service and asked for the actual rate of the Armada spring. It is drumroll.....534lbin...!
The data plate shows a 2980 front curb weight take out 400lbs for wheel weight and a arm weight. That should land the sprung weight around 2500lbs.
2500/534=4.68 inches of...
1/2" id is perfect. 1/2 bolt fits perfectly.
The tubing shouldn't cost anywhere near that. What grade steel did you look at? Think I paid $40 for 3' of 4130. 3 times what I needed and also no need for chromoly, but I like it...
I wouldn't really recommend going with the exact shocks I did. Although the fitment is great, the valving is too light. I'd recommend calling Bilstein and seeing if you can custom order a set with 360/80 (or maybe even 400/120) valving. I know they will re-valve shocks.
I haven't found...
Awesome!! That video has been one of the best of hmmwv I've seen in a while. Plus you have some pretty good driving skill. Is the hmmwv fairly stock outside of suspension? I want to follow your formula for springs and shocks. And to be honest I'm getting pretty excited. The springs weren't too...
What type of adapter did you use? Then what type of shock? I might be mistaken but I think the shocks are the "limit strap" for most modern trucks. We would just need to get the right length shock.
Well... my rears are on upside down.. cut side is in the perch.
I envision in my mind a bushing with factory shock pin OD and typical civilian shock ID to make the plethora of stock pickup/suv shocks avaliable for use. I do understand the built in bumpstop and the shock being used as a limit...
