    M916 recovery

Kinda a long drive but Im game. You guys should make a parts and vehicle pick up mini rally down here. There is a good size rally here the first part of June. Its all WWII stuff, it would be really cool to have a SS bunch show up. Last year I had my A3 there and was really out of place...

    M916 recovery

Drove the beast for the first time myself. My friend who has a CDLA told me I should stay out of town for now. In other words I need more practice, but read the TM a few more times and the threads on the 7155 transmission and the "slap stick" method.

    M916 recovery

The tm calls for dexron ATF, I used power steering fluid. They are basically the same thing but im going to drain everything and use ATF and see how it goes. My thought is it was empty at pickup, so I think it has some problems.

    M916 recovery

Ya not the best MPG Josh, Made it to the motor pool near Medford,OR. I was betting from the description of the auction of "has power, wont start" that this truck was a runner. Tony was real helpful, found a key and yes the truck had some power but not nearly enough to start or even get...

I talked to the truck driving skool and it was $4K plus. I figured I might as well buy a tractor and train myself (with the help of my friend) for that kinda money. Adam, if I do any mods it would be to single it out with some 16.00's

    M916 recovery

A friend who has a class A CDL is going to drive the truck (if it will run and drive). That is one of the reasons Im buying this truck is to have my own rig to obtain my class A.

    M916 recovery

Thanks again, trailering with the 923 is a good idea, I have 4 mountain passes on my route that when empty the 923 bogs down to 30mph. The part that is really scary is going back down. Im kinda like the idea of having it hauled, its not my style but im considering it.

    M916 recovery

Thanks for the good input. Mike I was thinking of using the 923 that Dale wants. I still have a few repairs to do though. I may just take the duramax up and tow the 916 out of the gate so I can do some wrenching if I have to. Still brainstorming or lack of brainstorming.

    M916 recovery

I went big and won a M916. It is listed as "wont start". Plan is to take the 923 and 4 charged batts+misc recovery items. If I can get the 916 started and checked out I plan on flat towing the 923 back with the 916. If I can not get the 916 started I plan on flat towing the 916 with the 923...
