It's hard to find a Fuller short enough to fit between the bell and the t-case. Of course you can also move your t-case back but if you go too much you end up with driveline problems at full articulation of the front tandem.
I'm not saying it can't be done and a Fuller 9 or 10 speed would be...
You throw a Duramax and Allison in there and most of that will go out the window. The setup is pretty reliable but it isn't that easy to work on and parts are pretty pricey.
Standard S280 mainly (from the info I've seen, around 1,500lbs). I've also got a M49 deuce tanker bed that I thought I might also add some skids on and winch it onto the deuce if I need to transport some water. The tanker would be empty when loading/unloading it from the deuce bed so I'm just...
I was looking at my bed the other day and was thinking maybe have the roller tied into the bed side channel. You're right, I looked at the rear and it's pretty thin.
My thinking is make two receivers on each bed corner and have the end roller supports hook into that. I'll make the receivers...
What is the dia of your roller? I've got some 5" pipe I'm thinking of using for mine.
I'm also going to try and get by without the center support for the roller. Since it's going to be removable, it would just be easier without the center support. I honestly don't think the 5" pipe will flex...
Only way I've ever done video is make a Youtube video and link to it. I don't know if you can download a video directly to the site, Patracy would know.
I'd like to see the video though.
Dave, you may be right. I really don't know much about the shelters and haven't been able to find much info either. Most of the shelters I've seen though had something under on the bottom that had fork pockets in them, this shelter does not.
There is definitely something missing on the bottom...
My shelter didn't have a skid under it when I got it so I'm building one. I've got some 4" I-beam that I'm building the runners out of. I'll attach my pull point to that.
I like your tail roller and winch setup. I'm thinking of doing the same with my S280. I'm going to make my tail roller removable though with receiver hitch tubes mounted on each side of the bed. That way I can remove the roller when not needed. I've also got a dump installed so unloading should...
