The adapters that we got from patracy started as a 3/4" plate milled down to 1/2" to leave a 1/4" shoulder in the middle. That was done because the MRAP wheels are HUB centric not LUG centric, so the only way to acurately locate the adapter in the wheel was to machine that shoulder. And it was...
I can't say that for sure because I don't know how hard or expensive it would be to modify these wheels to fit a 5 ton. You could always be the first to try.
That's what I'm looking for, thank you. All I was coming up with was adapters to fill tractor tires with liquid ballast. Oh I have the valve cores, I removed them to air down the tires so I could remove the nuts that hold the two halves together so I could paint them. On the floor in the middle...
I do have one question. Anybody know how to air these things back up? A regular valve stem is about 1/4" in diameter the valve stem on these are about 1/2" and a regular air chuck will not fit. The valve core is removed in this pic.
You think 1 fillet weld is stronger and safer than 10, 1 in. grade 5 bolts? The 6 stock lugs are by far the weakest point in the whole set up.
I paid $2,700 for the tires and wheels, $550 for the adapter plates, and $150 for the 60 bolts and nuts needed to bolt the plates on.
I don't know...
Finally got around to getting one of the wheels blasted, painted and adapter plates bolted on. These things couldn't fit any more perfect, absolutely no rubbing on the steering arm there is a full 2 inches at full right turn, the only thing that may rub is the back inside on the inner fender at...
roflHA! That's funny, I see how what I said could have been taken that way.
I hadn't thought about that, maybe start with a 3/4" plate and have 1/4" machined off down to leave a "hub" to locate it.
I planned on having all the nuts on the outside, figured it would look better too.
We just picked up 6 brand new MRAP wheels and tires (395/85r20) xzl's and we want to put them on the wifes truck, and here is what i'm thinking. Use an adapter plate like is being done with the hemmt wheels except instead of using the studs that hold the 2 wheel halves together, use the lug bolt...
