I've found it's a lot easier for me to get there from the south, so I'll be rolling through cinci. And I've talked myself into leaving tonight. I just have to time it right so the sun is up by the time I need to start reading directions.
I bet we'll have firebase haspin cleared out by...
I haven't decided if I'm leaving tonight so I can get there crazy-early, or just head out in the morning sometime. All my potential co-drivers/navigators left me hangin' and I hate missing turns in the dark.
If someone brings a decent chainsaw we can probably drag out a downed tree or three and go to town on it. If I remember correctly, that was encouraged at this park. (No live-tree cutting, though!)
I'd volunteer my saw but it wouldn't cut a watermellon, let alone a tree...
Well crud. It looks like like I'm down to one truck ( XM818 ) and a trailer (M200A1/MT6950TRC). And I seem to have lost contact with everyone that was supposed to go with me.
There's still time to get all my ducks in a row, though.
I used to get bummed when t shirts weren't available. Right now I'm just happy to get a chance to wheel the big iron. If someone were to take the initiative and have some nice shirts printed up, I'd likely be on board.
When we show up on wednesday, the place is pretty dead. All we'll have to...
It's usually quite a sight for those that aren't around this stuff all the time, but this year should be pretty spectacularrrrrr.
I say bring all the mogs you can round up. And the jeeps will make nice wheel chocks! I just wish I could have the flattie ready in time. (Not gonna happen.)
The first thing I would do is look for some manuals or a knowledgable person that'll tell you if a pinz can even be flat towed. It might be as smple as putting the t-case in neutral and taking off, or you might need to pull the drive shafts and drag link, and have a voodoo witch doctor peform a...
I don't know how a pinz would do on a towbar. If you're nervous about it you could either use an equipment trailer, or stick a reciever hitch on your 109 and pull a properly sized car trailer. The car trailer option would surely be lighter and might slow you down a little less on the hills. Plus...
Looks like it's pretty well set for June 10-14.
And the 715 is just a little closer to being ready. It's a good thing I started working on it so early!
Do we want to know how you got a news crew camera?
I don't remember if a date was settled on or not. I guess one of us will have to go through the thread again. (It might be fun!)
I'll end up driving through columbus, then cinci, and on in to the park. If poor ole' gimp gets any more pre-haspin visitors, he'll have to rope off his whole street!
Speaking of... Watch for a pm, cripplerobb.
Gimp, I'll have a truck set up to show you what I mean. Just watch your feet!
Jeff, you're in charge of getting the pulling sled set up.
(Can I delegate tasks without having any authority?:|)
