M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

Thanks - I built it myself - wanted to go to the larger lunette eye and not have the trailer run uphill... With the 14.00's on the duece the pintle hook is about 36" off the ground! I made an 8" drop for the trailer out of 3/4" plate and then just ran some tube back for braces... Needs a...

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

I know - I was thinking the same thing - I talked with some mini-excavator guys in the midwest about getting an all rubber replacement tracks - the are 4" pitch (100mm) with 76 grousers and 14" (355mm) wide - should be able to get a track made by one of these guys that list tracks for all sorts...

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

That's pretty similar to the design of the factory tool I have seen pictures of in use on the John Deere factory floor in 1942 - only theirs had an adjustable spreader function and some kind of offset bar so you can use it with an overhead crane... I am pretty much in the same solo boat for...

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

That'd be great if you could post up some pics and a little blurb on how to install a track solo - they are kinda like big snakes; start rolling it around and they just take on a mind of their own! Thanks Matt

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

Thanks Jim - I would love to chat about what we can help each other out with - I tried like the devil to get that machine in Oregon but by the time we got to the stage of negotiating a price he checked with his folks that ran the yard and his dad had scrapped the thing... I have some pictures of...

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

Well - went and picked up Thing I the other day prior to heading out of town for another marine engine adventure... I built a drop lunette eye bracket for the trailer and it's much happier with the 36" pintle hook height on the duece now... Anyhow - SN 4JA836 is home... with a busted track...

Or Canadia... Plus I enjoy the protection of the King County Ecology Police... Seriously though - I want to get out to more events but as Stalwart can attest to my schedule is pretty thin on time here in town! I will give it my best effort! srodocker: He has another little dozer that...

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

Just like everything else I have - I like the history and the story behind them; they will definitely be out and about... And rides will certainly be in order... The plan is to get the green one running as is and then go after the one on the trailer for a full resto first... I will be sure...

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

Thanks! - It was a toss up with the girlfriend over the Cletracs and starting a weasel project - I figured the Cletracs had more gut pull for my first tracked vehicle - and I am intending to do a complete frame up resto so they will be nice pieces when done... Then it's weasel time! Matt

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

Ah yes - I forgot to add that the one with the grill guard on it is actually a movie star - was used in the late 1970's film "From Here to Eternity" - finally got a copy on something other that VHS and am making my way through it - all 295min of it

M2 HST Cletrac - the two that followed me home...

Hiya guys - I figured I would toss these in here since that seems to be the closest spot... I just aquired two MG-1's (M2 HST) a 1942 and a 1943... I am looking for the impossible - the rear air compressor and fender mounted genset both of which are PTO driven... Both of these tractors will...
