Well...
By the time you add in the tires, bed, etc etc etc. My profit margin is really not a lot so... would I do it again?
For profit... No.
For the experience of the great people I met and the spring-time trip... you bet!
The weather was perfect for this type of trip. Big OD machine...
End of an evolution
Well I got home.
Had a chance to change the radiator fluid based on the info from GIJoeCzar. All of his HI trucks have had very black radiator fluid. This truck was the same. No rust, no oil... just black water in the bottom and green in the top. I don't know what to...
MAde it to El Paso, TX today
Well today was a ~500 mile day. The truck is doing fine except for a slow leak in one of the rear tires. I have been running at 1850 RPM and 60 MPH. The dolly was bouncing a bit much so I let some air out of the tires and it is much better.
Tomorrow will be an...
headed out
I picked up a dolly today. Made good use of the fold down sides of the bed too.
Heading out late tonight or very early in the morning to go home. Wish me luck...

Ready for the trip home...
It is ready for the trip home this weekend. All I need to do is change the spare out with a 1400 and hit the road.
I had a tire guy break down the front right tire to see if there was any water in it because the truck was driving funny. He removed 1.5 gal of water...
today
Well... almost done.
I changed out the muffler, passenger mirror, and added the hood retainer to the bumper that I assume the winch chain tore off. I also added a gun ring leg mount to the passenger door jam and picked up some convoy light u-bolts.
I also found a 5th wheel like I...
Thanks
I appreciate your kind words but the credit for this project goes to the great people I have met here in Yuma and San Diego.
Team is everything... This has not been a one-man-show by a long shot.

Bed changed
I changed the bed out today.
I still have the tires. They hate to rate them but they are very high tread. I am in Yuma AZ until Friday. $1100 for 11 tires w/wheels.

Filter
I put a new fuel filter in the truck last night and ran it around today. Not much of a difference and the canister gunk was not that bad. Guess that is a good sign.
Tomorrow I will change the bed out with a cherry donor I found today. The cab on this truck is nice (coated every 2...
new tires and filter
We got the 1400s on today. New fuel filter too. Can't wait to GPS it on the highway to see how much MPH I gained at 2000rpm
Got to meet Hundy (Mark) and son today too. What a treat. Good guys.

Thanks
Thanks Stu. I will call you when I know when I will pass through. I sure was wanting your SatPhone when I was chugging along in "no service" land today.

M925
Well, I flew into San Diego this morning to pick up the Pineapple Express. The transit co left the switches on so the new batteries installed in HI were dead.
The low air light is blinking but the pressure is good and the brakes work great. Any ideas?
Worked the dead battery drama...
Named it
After all the drama I have decided to name it the "Pineapple Express"
Anyone have any reason I should run G20 15.5 (395/85R20) tires instead of 14.00s?
I am looking at the XZL pattern in the 14.00s or XL pattern in the G20s. I don't think I want to run the XL pattern in the 14.00s...
Off GL site
Well, it was removed from GLs site yesterday. I was hit for another $250 (1 days storage) because the shipping co will not take it till tomorrow.
It will ship on the 10th and arrive in San Diego on the 16th.
Gotta drive a bobbed A3 from Texas to IL (975 mi) the end of next week...
I agree
I am a sucker for learning a process and networking. Most of the time my sweat equity really pays off... most of the time.
This time I have truly gained nothing but experience.... and a nice truck.

Cost
Runabout $1000
Local Support and Transport $ 650
Batteries $ 400
Shipping to mainland $5,669.91
Still need to add ~$500 for fuel to get it to TX.
Total $8219 (The $1000 runabout could have been avoided but this was a learning curve)

It's ALIVE!!!
Got a report today. The batterier were installed & H20 topped off. The truck started right up and brakes are good to go. Finally caught a break...

Good Question
Don't know yet... sad but true. I have not talked with the co that removed it in a few days. They did put batteries in it so if it does not run it WILL turn over like crazy...:-P
