I didn't but there is some sort of modification on the firewall inside the engine compartment.
The starter bolts were pretty tight when we removed them so I'm not sure it could have turned but you never know.
My intent is to baby it until I get the title changed over to my name and then drop...

Removed the offending starter today (it's easy when you lift the front of the CUCV with a wrecker) and took it to the old school starter guy.
He put it on the bench and it worked perfectly.
Walked out of the shop feeling like a dumba$$.:oops:
Re-installed it and it worked...

I'll prob pull the starter and take it to the local old school starter and alternator guy in town. He has a rep for being good and reasonably priced. If he can't repair it I'll buy one. I looked under the dash and didn't see that plate in the picture but I didn't look real hard...
Right now it's sitting out in the driveway biding it's time before our next battle. I detected a evil glint off it's windshield today but I prob won't work on it for a few days.
I'll call NAPA tomorrow and see if they have the part in stock and then check with Advance Auto to see if they have...

Well....I knew things were going too well with my newly acquired CUCV. Murphy must have finally found out.
