In the NE they are referred to as Jersey or Mafia blocks. These are often made by ready mixed concrete suppliers who have molds set ready for when mixer trucks go back to the plant with a little "left over" or surplus - contractors will often over measure since running short is a really bad...
Baby wrecker gets an airing..
After a few years collecting dust in the barn, I got my Airbourne 1 tonne wrecker (Land Rover 101) running and out for a play at our annual Guy Fawkes Land Rover Event (FB).
Actually, I hadn't even considered current "Hotel 8's"... I started this thread to get pics of action, not done TO your wrecker like other threads!!! (That's covered in 'Wrecker wishlist of mods' thread.)
More pics next time you use it PLEASE PLEASE!!
How does it compare to the E1...
Any particular reason you used the crane to pull the shed onto the trailer or is the main drag winch not clear on the pic and you were "steering" the shed with the crane?
Finally got to throw up a few of the trusses on the shed that will house the 816 for it's tidy up this winter.
Last week I lifted the four 10x10 posts and beam which is the support for the outside wall/truss tails.
Ok, I'm going to play the OP card here!
I know we have mentioned the whiffle tree before - maybe "Wrecker wish list of mods" thread.... but that little ring that is hanging down from the middle of it - purpose anyone?
I think (as in - my opinion) it is to hang on the hook, which then has the...
Yes Jeff, my 816, I only use the crane when in 4th or 5th as per the book and as per all those that used them in anger.
Have no experience with the 936.
Hydraulics from PTO pump off of the transmission off of the diesel engine. Is that what you mean?
Yup - hydrogen, argon, helium etc is extremely expencive! Sorry - couldn't resist.
$700/hr - maybe in CRAZY LAND! ......not to mention that you shouldn't really run the crane at anything above...
I think this goes back to a pic in post #4 ....
Thanks crasheej, yes I did know that - it was my pick with the arrows. I was trying to explain the same to 'dmetalmiki' (post #24 - refering to Speedzilla's post #8 ) ... HOWEVER, I had responded to Speedzilla's post in post #11 already...
Tried to follow the thread back to see what you were refering to. Is this it? (If not, please provide post number)....
If so, resting the travel stays 'forward' onto superstructure will expose the left one to contact with the cupola when slewing further to the right side of the truck than in...
Oh that's a real easy one to explain - ask me how I know!!!! However, I was lucky enough to notice it just scuff the paint on the side of the cupola as I stopped slewing to the right side. However, my drivers side shipper brace (travel lock) will not fit on the peg on the boom as the cast...
Yard repairs - need a lift.
... so, tractor dragged into yard by the shop, but with no steering, had to pick up the back and move onto level conc pad for stability whilst stripping down. Needed to use stabiliser legs as I wasn't comfortable lifting whilst the truck listed to starboard with...
Wrecker play time - or as my wife says "Your still trying to justify getting it aren't you?"
You know the saying "I don't know what we did before we had ...... " (Insert as necessary - vacuum's, cell phones, microwaves, remote control TV's etc., etc. Now I can add 'wrecker'! )
Had a little...
