They flew cross country from Langley to San Francisco, all granddad ever mention about flying was the relief missions to the Indian village and dropping hay out of the bombers. The picture of the 3 men, the first on the left is my Grandfather not sure who the other two are

I have a strong suspicion your photo #5 in the first post is Balboa Park, San Diego. The image is taken looking northeast. The Naval Hospital is just below center. The bridge under the aircraft is the Prado, leading into the site of the California Exposition of 1919.

I believe Curtiss had a fleet of seaplanes in San Diego, but I am no historian.
