1961 M543 wrecker with the Continental gas engine (R6602) does anyone have Direct (firsthand) experience with the Holly 885-JJG carburetor? My overhaul manual from Holly tells me that the Governor should be connected to Governor Control Unit. Does anyone want to enlighten me about where I will find this elusive Governor Control Unit? Thank you

Not sure about the Governor Control Unit, but there is a thread on rebuilding the Holly.

The "GCU" your holley manual mentions may only be on civilian applications, as i don't recall anything unusual on my two 5T gassers

I could be incorrect though, it's been awhile since i had to have a staring contest with one of the carbs

I recall a vacuum line running to the round diaphram housing which in turn operates/controls the butterflies..
I don't recall there being anything more connected to it than that , but i can look for you when i get home in a few days

Here's a good place to mention those butterflies are default-open until vacuum builds, or as in the electrical world, "normally-open"

Thank you Sir
PLEASE look at your 5-ton and let me know what connects to the governor. I am thinking that manifold vacuum would work.
