I just got my 395 XML's and 11.00 tubes but I can't find any info about pros and cons of using stock flaps. My tire dealer attempted to mount one and said he could not get it compressed enough. He was worried about the stock flaps pinching the tubes and recommended I go with a wider flap. I am going to attempt this myself. I have read all the good and bad and am well aware of the danger. I have changed many tires with the lock rings before. I plan to use forks on my front-end loader to compress the tire. Are there any issues with the stock flaps?

I believe the flaps are based on rim size not tire size. I used my stock flaps and the tire dealer had no problem with it. They mount these large tires all the time. Drive up here to Hartwell and we will get them mounted for you. No sure what you are paying down there but this place charges $30 each to break down old one, clean the rim, and mount the new tire and they take all the risk. If you need a tube thats extra. We just did mine last week.

Gee whizz, are you upset about something? Is anger management in your future? I was hoping he would get some other advice besides mine. Sorry to offend you.

curmudgeonsplural of cur·mudg·eon

Noun: A bad-tempered or surly person,

I resemble that remark....especially when it comes to drooling morons playing loud music from a vehicle, idiots that can't put down a cell phone and cretins that think wearing pajamas out in public is an intelligent fashion statement.

That sounds like a good deal. The guy here in Lincolnton told me he would mount them for $25 per tire but that went south pretty quick. I was eager to pay 25 but he could not hold up his end of the deal due to compression. I am off every Wednesday and on the weekends. Do you think I need to call them ahead of time.

I thought the same thing about the flap size. I asked my tire gut to explain the difference and he mumbled something. Well, I think he mumbled, but maybe I was just ignoring him at that point. Your truck looks great. Have you been off road with the new treads?
