Sounds like your loosing compression, everytime it dies it's cooling down enough to get enough compression to start again.

Or

or your fuel shut off solenoid may have an internal short causing it to get hot and cut it's power and turn the fuel off maybe.... That's kind of a stretch but maybe.

How does the truck shut down like does it just straight turn off like with the switch or does it sputter out or just fade away?

This is is kind of a vague question what's your oil pressure doing? Is your engine making oil? Like there's fuel in it?

It just shuts off. If you try to crank it immediately it will not start. But let it sit a minute or 2 and it will restart and run just fine for a few minutes then repeat. I never looked at the oil pressure when it happened but it is usely 60 to 80 pounds. I drove it to work yesterday morning cold and it drove the 14 miles just fine. Did not die.

Yea it deffintly sounds as if it's loosing fuel or compression. Like floridianson said maybe you should start small and check fuel filters first check the fuel pressure make sure your not loosing prime. When I got my m923a2 it drove fine for the first 20 or so miles but then the block fuel filter clogged and it sputtered out cleared up and sputtered then cleared up again then would not start after I shut it down after I got it back home. But that's the 8.3l the nhc250 is a bit more fuel sensitive. I'm assuming you will have the big canister filter for yours so after you replace yours and it still has this issue i would assume it's the compression issue or the injection pump.

THERE IS a cracked fitting that expands when hot so it sucks air, or a cracked something, to rule out the fuel shut off solenoid turn the thumb screw in, if the truck stays running, you will need to use the emg. shutdown to kill it.

Do not think this is a fuel filter problem, it is HEAT caused, even a loose fitting that is just tight enough to hold prime when cold WILL loosen up when hot, the ip will expand when hot more then the fittings.

Cannot be compression because loosing all 6 holes at one time is beyond odds, the 250 WILL run on FIVE (even 4) live holes, WILL sound and vibrate like he11 and make you think the engine is about to jump in your lap. In fact this more common then you think, a OVER TACKED Cummins will give you this THRILL if the engine is still running.

Some years ago, I was running a D9, we keep loosing coolent, not a trace anywhere, shut it down nothing, just by chance, liked behind the water manifold while the unit was running, saw a tiny puff of "smoke" turned to be steam from coolent hitting the head, shut it down, went to look, NOTHING, as it turned out, the leak was ONLY there during operation, the manifold had a TINY crack that ONLY opened up when hot, as SOON as it was shut down and cooled just a tad, the crack closed (enough to fool a pressure test when cold)
