A couple questions on a '91 M998

In the process of purchasing an M998 that's a 1991 off of someone, a friend was a Motor T for the Marine Corps which plays a part in a second. The vehicle does not start though, the Humvee will crank with a jump, but will not start. When you turn over we hear a thunk. He thinks it might be the glow plugs but neither of us are entirely sure. ***removed second question due to site rules. ***

You should hear a thunk when you turn the switch from off to run, thats the glow plug relay. I'd check and make sure its getting fuel to the injectors.
