Hey guys, I am about to go pick up an 85 m1009 and have a ac question. Truck still has the original 24v system and I would like to keep it that way but I do want to make it more comfortable for the wife and kids. I've read through a ton of posts here and they all seem to end in "what should be possible" or using odiron system (does not exist anymore). I know there is a $1k system from a company and I'm ok with that if it's the best proven option? I do plan tint and some basic floor insulation. I'm not opposed to a roof mount but don't really want to be the guinea pig. I would appreciate any input on the subject.
Thanks guys

Welcome to the site.

A few members have installed aftermarket air. While it will not be "cold" it does help make the truck cooler.

ODIron is not longer selling kits as they are no longer around. The owner is a member here but is not online hardly any.

Nostalgic Air has a kit

Vintage Air has kits that may be modified to work

And there are always these options:

Welcome to the hobby. Why not purchase a vehicle with the options you want/need already fitted?, If not, I would think you might find something for your needs in the local scrap yard? If it's "heat" you want that's easy. the cooler not so much. Time for ingenuity? Good luck.

The OD Iron kit was from Arizona Mobil Air. If you call them they can still build the kit. I have it in my M1008 and it holds up to the AZ Summers pretty good, but a pickup cab is a lot smaller.

You have to call them for the Military truck kits. Each one of these companies does it a little different. Just pick the one you like the best.

Contacted them and requested pricing. I like the look of that with the compressor out of the way. I assume the inside unit is under-dash?
