Ok. This is not the everyday question. Last week while driving my 1985-1028A1 . one of the belts broke and of course broke the other ones. called the local parts store yup we have them will deliver great. start getting the truck ready noticed that one of the ears on driver side alt. is broken off. the front bottom. so being 45 miles from home. put all the new belts on tightin belts drivr side the best I could to get home. The drive side can be replaced with any off the shelf alt. becauce it is NOT an isolated ground. So what I want to do is put a 22SI alt. it is a 150 amp alt form a big truck. It is brand new yes I just do have one. not going out to buy. So what would be the pros and cons of that big of an alt. runing in series with the other one still stock. for A while. I have another 22SI same alt. I am going to make an isolated groung and put it on. they will bolt on I have tried before they match up bolt pattern. So what does any one think???

They don't charge in series. They charge each battery individually.

You can use whatever 12 volt alternator you can fit on, on the drivers side(front battery).

You can also replace the broken case half, on your alternator.
