V-belt trucks can have 60 amp, 100 amp, or 200 amp alternators I don't believe there are 400 amp ones, but there might be a few)
Serpentine belt trucks can have either 200 or 400 amp alternators.
1097R1 trucks can be either V belt or serpentine, usually depending on whether it's a 3 speed (V-belt) or 4 speed (serpentine) depending on what version the truck was before it went into the recapitalization program to become an "R1" variant.
If you don't have an alternator at all, then buy the 200 amp kit. 400 amp is massive overkill and more trouble than it's worth to work around inside the engine bay. Also way overkill for what you need, unless you're planning on running a welder straight from it.
Everything else will be the same between 200 and 400 other than mounting brackets and serpentine belt. 400 amp does have a second positive cable going to the starter.
